• Q: Maverick 88 or H&R, which one is a better choice?

  Ramound, they are both very good shotguns and are similar in overall quality. The Maverick 88 will hold it's value over time much better is the only advantage with going with the 88.

• Q: Does anyone know if they make a "Sidesaddle" Shell Holder to fit this shotgun? Or is there one made, such as the Remington 870 Sidesaddle that will fit? Thanks.

• Q: I'm looking forward to getting this firearm shipped to me in Rhode Island. I have family in California. Will I be able to travel with this? Also, I'm aware I will need a shotgun case in order to fly with this. Do I give it to the airline separately or have it put in my checked luggage? And is there an extra charge?

  Evelina, You will need an approved case that locks and can not be pried open. Goes with checked luggage. Ammunition in separate locked secure container. Make sure you keep your keys secure but handy. You WILL be asked to open case at some point for the TSA. Depending on airline there will be additional paperwork and fees.

• Q: What size slugs can be shot out of this shotgun with issues? I have 3 inch magnum slugs. I dont want to mess my gun up when I get it so need to know before I try to shoot and mess it up.

  Joshua, his shotgun has a 3" Chamber so it will safely fire 3" and shorter Slug loads with out issue Sir.

• Q: Thanks for the info guys. Now I had a maverick 88, good gun, but I live in a humid area. The barrel kept surface rusting no matter how much I clp'd it. Does this one hold up better in humidity?

  it going to be about the same. • Q: Is the follower and extractor metal? I've read follower plastic. Also will it shoot slugs? Read built in choke

• Q: First gun purchase, I would like to know if a choke can be added to this gun?

  Chuck, I own one of these that I purchases a about 3 years ago. The barrel is not threaded and therefore cannot accept a screw in choke. The barrel tip is choked sized a Cylinder sized choke to accommodate shot gun slugs and buckshot. Of course you can shoot "bird-type" loads with this shotgun but the shot pattern very quickly spreads out dramatically. Interestingly, mine came with a choke wrench in the box but don 't known why. Also note that this is a relatively heavy shotgun. Not a big deal as it helps to reduce recoil and good in home defense situations, but one may not want to tote this heavyweight shotgun around all day hunting field game. If you are looking for a multi-purpose shotgun I would recommend you look at Mossberg, Savage, Winchester, etc., brands. For home defense only, the HR Pardner is more than adequate. Also note that at one time HR was a premier gun manufacturer. They are now owned by an investment group and their guns are manufactured and imported from the far east. While they are strong and reliable, the fit and finish is not on par with many other brands. If you are on a limited budget and only want this gun for home defense, go for it.
