• Q: Where is this gun made? The Savage-Stevens shotguns are made in China, and not even by Stevens. They are made by a 3rd party manufacturer, which makes Stevens little more than an import company. Being that Stevens is owned by Savage, I would like to know where these are made and by whom.

  This is manufactured by Savage arms. I'm reading all rimfire rifles are made in Canada, while center fire rifles are made in Massachusetts. I'd contact Savage arms at (800) 370-0708 for a more detailed and definite answer. Hope this helps.

• Q: I am looking at this for a first rifle but was wondering if it is New York state compliant?

  The firearm is drilled and tapped for rails of your choice, so long as they’re the correct size. When it comes to a good scope I guess it will depend on your budget. • Q: Is this grooved for a scope or drilled and tapped or neither?

  Better than grooved, Duane, this one is drilled and tapped, to solidly mount a scope base/rail o top of the receiver, for a scope or red dot, as you choose.
