TOOK THE RIFLE OUT TO THE RANGE YESTERDAY. IT WAS A 100 DEGREE DAY. I FIRED OFF 20 SHOTS. THE RIFLE DID GREAT, BUT THE BARREL GOT SO HOT THAT YOU COULD NOT TOUCH IT. I LET IT SET WHILE A SHOT ANOTHER RIFLE. I ONCE AGAIN SHOT 20 MORE ROUNDS FROM THE DOUBLESTAR. ONCE AGAIN , EVEN A HOTTER BARREL AND ALSO AROUND THE FROM GRIP WAS VERY HOT. THE RIFLE FIRED WELL, BUT IS THIS NORMAL FOR THE RIFLE TO GET THIS HOT ??? I STILL ENJOYED SHOOTING IT.

Quick breakdown on the rifle facts... Barrel is 16" heavy, chromed, 1:7 twist. The bolt carrier group is an enhanced AR-15 style. Staking is excellent. Take down pins are solid and fit perfect. Stock is a 4 position of commercial dimensions. Safety is not ambidextrous. Overall, as other reviews have said, fit and finish is excellent. The carbine I received is exactly as described and of the expected quality, for the price / manufacture. One thing unexpected from the picture, the rifle is black. I expected greenish from the buds reference photo. Rifle came with a 4 sided gas block, quality 30rd magazine and an average user manual. Put wolf, rem, and LC ammo through it in PMags, Thermo-molds, and STANAG mags with no notable issues. This is a quality weapon at a fair price. Buds shipped quickly to a known FFL and I was out the door in under 20 min.

Very,Very,Very cool I now have 3- Doublestars they are very accurate this one has much lighter trigger right out of the box put a scope on dialed it in and shooting eggs at 300yards now that is ACCURATE as always BUDS has been great 5- stars for gun and BUDS thank you.

I must admit, I only ordered this Doublestar because I could not find a Colt or a Rock River Arms AR. I live in Colorado, so time was of the essence. Nothing else was for sale anywhere (for less than $2K) so I went with Doublestar. The rifle comes in a cardboard box with one 30 round mag. It does not come with any optics, as is shown in the picture. For $1300, I wish it would have had basic iron sights. It has a four rail block up front and and rail in the back, so you can mount your own sights. I have never owned my own AR15 before, but this Doublestar brand seams to be a quality product. Everything seams to work. Fit and finish is good. The rifle comes ready to customize. Note: this rifle has commercial sized buffer tube, not milspec. If you are changing out the stock, you will need to know that. Overall, I am pleased with this brand and the rifle itself. I've taken it apart and cleaned/lubed it. I have not shot it, so I can't comment on how it shoots. The ammo shortage has made 223/556 worth their weight in gold. I have ordered from Buds before and plan to do so again in the future. I am very satisfied at this point.

I'll start with the Pros, because there is alot of them: I really can't believe I received an AR at this present time! First off, I understand that a few months ago these rifles were sold for less than they are now. I don't care. In a time where you can't even find them anywhere without selling an bodily organ... I think that $1199 is a decent price. This rifle is well made. The fit and finish is awesome. If you haven't considered DoubleStar before, you really should. They are an outstanding All-American company out of Winchester, KY who is currently choosing to stand up for our Second Amendment Rights. I am encouraged by this and I am happy that I can support DoubleStar. The rifle came clean and well lubed... ready to fire. It is has a chrome-lined barrel (not chrome-moly) which is great. It eats .223 AND 5.56 NATO which is good when ammo is this hard to find. I slapped a TruGlo Red Dot on top and so far I've put both Brass and Steel-cased ammo through it... both .223 and 5.56. Ate it all up... not a single problem. Now for the Cons, which isn't much: The ONLY thing that I have to complain about isn't anything wrong with the rifle at all. This rifle is pictured and advertised as having a 4-rail gas block, but mine came with only a single-rail gas block... with the rail on the top. I'm not sure if this is happening with all of these rifles, or if mine was just a mix-up. Either way, I didn't feel that this mistake warranted me to send it back and wait longer. I plan on doing some modifications before long anyway. Despite this mix-up... Bud's service and shipping were still top notch. Overall, I am VERY happy with this rifle. It's a keeper. I ordered this rifle and received it approximately one week later. A lot faster than I was expecting. I did some research about Doublestar. They are manufactured in Kentucky. If a state/county/city etc. enacts restrictive gun owner laws, they will cease selling to them and law enforcement in the affected area. This model is a gun show model, per what's on the box. So, I believe, you can't normally order this from Doublestar. It has a bull barrel with 1:7 twist. The stock is commercial and not mil. spec, if that matters to you. The four rail gas block makes finding a usable front sight a bit more difficult. Overall, it seems to be a very well made rifle. You just aren't paying for the big name. Due to things being the way they are, I have not yet shot it. Will update once I find some ammo.

I received this rifle exactly one week after I had initially ordered it. Buds shipped this very fast. The rifle itself is amazing. It feels great. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet because you can't find ammo anywhere but I definitely suggest buying this rifle. I know Doublestar rifles weren't usually this much before all the craziness, but now during this BS this price is worth it, and I didn't mind because Doublestar isn't selling any weapon to any state's or cities government or law enforcement agency so i'm glad I supported that. Overall great rifle.

My 5th purchase from Buds. All great but this one takes the cake. I cant believe I actually received it. Ordered on Dec 21st and finally received it today 1/4. Well my FFL did. Backround checks are 8 days out. 8 DAYS OUT! Went and checked it out and we completely disassembled it for inspection. All checked out fine. Thank you Buds for doing a fantastic job during such a crazy time. You could have cancelled my order to make double the money on auction but you did not. I wont forget that. Thanks
