The Mossberg 500 is a great shotgun made better with a handy barrel like this. Home defense, brush busting in bear country, some tight holding quail, with its threaded choke capability and easy handling 20” length it will add true utility to your 500.

If you do not use optics, this is a surprisingly decent all-arounder for a tactical-type shotgun. True, this is a 20 inch barrel so it is not quite as short as the Mossberg 18.5 inch cylinder bore bead sight barrel, but you get a lot for that extra 1.5 inches. For starters, you get the ability to use Accu-Choke compatible choke tubes. That may or may not be a big deal for you (I am using a Carlson's cylinder choke tube in my barrel and I am happy with it so far), but it is a nice option to tailor the choke to your load of choice. More practical is the vent rib and the dual beads on that vent rib. With that nice wide highway of a rib, it is fast and easy to get on target at any distance and those dual beads really help with lateral placement of slugs out to at least 50 yards (the furthest I have shot slugs so far)... much more precise than just a single bead. This may seem like an odd barrel configuration, but it is a winner for me.

When you can find these, this is a great barrel length. Great for heavy brush or timber, and double as a home defense gun.

Good price and fast shipping. Bud's is my go-to supplier for my shooting products. The barrel was clean and shiny just like I like em. Fit without a hitch and accepted my Tru-Glo adjustable choke just as easily. Now all I have to do is get the cast off my leg so I can hunt. Thank you Bud's. I will be buying again in a few months. I bought this 20" barrel to go on my Mossberg 500 12ga b/c this 20" barrel can except the accu-choke tubes. I like knowing that I can buy chokes of different constrictions to fit on this 20" barrel. Makes it a whole lot more versatile & a whole lot more lighter. With this 20" barrel with the Modified Choke installed, I've taken a limit of wood ducks on 2 trips that I've made. I had to walk approximately a mile to get to the spot were I was hunting & it was nice to have that short 20" barrel attached to my Mossberg 500 12ga to lighten the load on the way in & out of the woods. This is a handy barrel for home defense but gives you the flexibility to use choke tubes. It's short, but a nice size for turkey hunting or as a camp gun. Great transaction as always.
