This rifle was a HUGE disappointment! Bolt carrier would always hang up at the back of the rails, it jammed every couple of rounds, and the receiver top cover would continually pop off with each round. Finally, when I was out at the range one day, it fired out of battery, and blew up in my face. Luckily, I was uninjured, but the same could not be said for the rifle; it was a total loss. I sent the remains back to I.O., and several months later, I received a new rifle with all the same problems, minus the bolt hang up (the new rifle came with a buffer). Would not recommend this product, as long as suitable, higher-quality alternatives are available.

Bud's shipped fast and great customer service. But gun had issues right out of box magazine would not fit tried others and would not work either, called I.O. and kept getting the run around finally had to sent to local gunsmith for repair and it has a lifetime warranty. Spend the extra money for a better quality gun.

I purchased the economy sporter early 2014. It shot great out of the box using iron sights (after a very thorough cleaning of internals). Finish was excellent. All rivets are executed properly. I've snice then added a parabellum ak adaptive rail dust cover with a vortex spitfire optic....a ak74 muzzle and utg rail with bipod. I was impressed with the way it came as a $600 dollar purchase but now I'm very impressed with my finished product. Very fun to shoot and made here in the states. Two thumbs up.

I have owned many guns this is the first one to totally fail me. One clip and it jammed up and after some time working on it found it jammed again. A real peace of junk.

Best quality I could find for an AK in this price range. Comes with two magazines and a cleaning kit. It jammed a lot on the first 20 rounds...probably about every 3rd round would fail to load or eject but after that first 20 the rifle was as smooth as butter. I really liked the feel of the stock. Way better than any WASR and gives you the ability to put a forward grip on or light/laser. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the jamming at first.

Overall a ok gun for the price. The fit and finish of my rifle was ok. One huge problem I was concerned with was none of my mag's would fit straight out of the box even the ones it came with. I did some work on them and now snap right in without a hitch, with barley any mag wobble what so ever was very surprised. I ran 100 rds through it at first and was having a sticking bolt issue while rapid firing, but the rifle I believe is beginning to work itself in a bit. Would defiantly recommend brass cased ammo steel seems to cause some problems with my rifle at least. Overall gun works ok so far however i did purchase lifetime warranty to be safe,along with manufactures warranty. Would recommend cleaning very well and cycling bolt by hand a bit before shooting seems to help my rifle out.

Looked just fine out of the box, so I accepted it and took it home. Upon loading the mags I knew there would be problems. One mag would not hold more than 25 rounds and the other one 28. Then, I tried to load these "magazines" into the rifle. The mag well is so tight that its shears plastic off of the mags when you try to insert them. Feels like they would break the first time one was dropped. I then tried a high quality plastic 40 rounder to see if I would experience the same issue. Once again so tight I broke the front locking lip off of one of my good mags. I went ahead and loaded one of the mags to 20 rounds so I would not jam up these crappy things. I then proceeded to cut the webbing of my hand on a sharp edge on the pistol grip between the receiver and the back of the grip. I got two shots off and a shell jumped out of the mag and jammed up the rifle. Cleared the jam and got off one more before the next round hit the lip of the barrel (no feed ramps on an AK's) and bent the round and jammed it again. I quit before I wrapped the rifle around a tree. These were plain jane steel case FMJ's that my two other AK's and my RPK eat with no issues. I am about to test IO's customer service. I would not recommend this rifle based on my experience. If you want a cheap AK get a WASR. Never had a jam or misfire in 2,000 plus rounds and I think I have cleaned it twice. I would like to have one of the IO Sporters the other reviewers have.

Ak-47 reliability AND its made in the USA. Best of both worlds - easy to order and fast shipping from buds. Rifle came in great shape - I had heard of I.O quality control being sub-par but Im impressed. Barrel was straight with the rest of the gun and the front sight was not canted. Comes with 2 very tight fitting magazines that have absolutely NO wobble. Fired everything I put into it too - no hiccups at all. The magazine springs are extremely stiff but thats to be expected with a new product. All welds and rivets were solid with nothing loose and no overpressing on the reciever. If you want a good AK go with this one.

Very well made rifle. However, BEWARE! you are buying the ECON model, that doesn't come with the ability to add I.O.'s side-mount picatinny scope rail. I didn't find this out until I received the rifle & contacted I.O. There is no mention of this being the ECON model, except for the part number. I'm not sure if I will keep this rifle, or sell it & get the model that has the rail, as I wanted to mount a scope to this rifle. These things make 2" groups at 300 yards and should have a scope!
