I was skeptical of the .17 HMR for years based on the opinion of my late stepfather who was the king of PA woodchuck hunting. He would use a 6mm (mostly reloads) out of a Remington 700 and he knocked the snot out of those chucks with the rounds he produced. So him trying the .17 HMR for the first time and not seeing the devastation that the 6mm did he sold his .17 HMR. So I went and purchased a Savage 93R17 GV and wow was I surprised at the results from these little 20Gr. XTP rounds. I shoot 3/8" groups of 5 at 100 yds., that's pretty impressive for an average shooter like me. I tried these out last week and they do the job on woodchucks from 40yds. out to 150 yds. so far. I'll still use my .223, .204 Ruger, 22-250, .22WMR, .22LR but for now I'm liking these .17HMR's. Bud's price is pretty good too. Hickok45 needs to do a new review on the .17 HMR bolt action,
