Picked up my 460 from my FFL today. I'm pleased with this weapon. It arrived quickly and in great shape. There were no flaws and the gun was very clean and lightly oiled. In addition am pleased with Bud's and with their layaway program. Good job folks.

This is my second review of the XVR and I must say, as I am writing this my brand new Smith and Wesson revolver is back in Springfield Masachuteses for cylinder repairs. If you look around on the internet you will find that although Smith and Wesson make a good handgun there quality control is less then satisfactory. Maybe I will get my XVR back before summers end.

Ok, first a magnet sticks to this stainless steel revolver which completely surprised me since I have never seen stainless steel a magnet will stick to. Second if you are looking for a solid metal pistol you must know that the trigger, hammer and sear are made from cast parts, which is completely ridiculous for a revolver that costs over a $1000 dollars. Also the most powerful ammo I can find is from Buffalo Bore and they don’t recommend using their 460 magnum ammo in an X-Frame revolver but recommend the BFR. When I first picked up the pistol the Hogue grip felt loose on the revolver unless you are really squeezing it hard, and although you can get a wood grip for it, I think the recoil would be more painful. I have read all over the net about the Hornady 200gr SST ammunition causing forcing cone pitting and flame cutting because of their light projectile and its recommend that only 300gr and heaver bullets be used which is fine with me since it is a powerful handgun that should be firing heavy powerful bullets in the fist place. And last but not least when you are pointing the X-Frame with its cast trigger, hammer and sear at a charging grizzly bear you must ask yourself one question “Do I feel lucky”.

I've had this gun for 3 or 4 months now and it still excites me to go to the range. Nothing I own, multiple .45's, 9's, and AR-10's and 15's, and a .50 cal, even come close. It will draw a crowd unlike any other firearm excepting perhaps a 20mm rifle. Mine came with the sights dead-on and they're plenty bright. The first trip took an hour to set up and test the zero and it was perfect at 50 yards with Hornady ammo. I put 5 rounds into a 2" or 3" bull with no problem. Shooting without a rest was easy in my book but I certainly wasn't nearly as accurate. I typically shoot 5 or 10 rounds of the .460 and then shoot something else for a few minutes to give my arm a rest.

I don't see any downside to this revolver. I have found ammo from a variety of local sources for under a dollar. Even Hornady 200 grain is a dollar at several sources so it's not any worse than going out and shooting 100 rounds of another pistol or rifle. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It will go with me to a bear hunt in Montana in the spring. Unlucky bear . . . Now, if my wife would let me have girlfriends, I bet I could pick up a few who would want to shoot it too!

I love this gun. I originally purchased it because rifle hunting for deer has become too easy, and I just don't have the time to bow hunt. I is so much fun too shoot though, I couldn't imagine going to the range without it now. 460 rounds can be reloaded for less than 50 cents apeice and factory rounds can be purchased for just over a dollar. There are a few negatives however. Unless you ara a body builder, the gun has cartoonish proportions which cannot be appreciated fully accept when holding it. The gun weighs nearly 8 pounds with a scope attached, as mine is. You need a good rest to shoot over about 25 yards. The hot gasses expelled from the side of this gun will shred/ ignite/ destroy anything near it. This could be your thumb if you do not know how to hold it properly, or your shooting bag if you were not smart enough to cover it with a towel (which also will ignite, but is cheaper than replacing the bag). I have personally shot 3 inch groups at 150 yards, and I have a hand tremor. This gun will however make you the envy of everyone else at the range. Also never ever ever ever, even when hunting, shoot this gun without hearing protection, as your ears will ring for months. Trust me....
