Good solid lightweight rifle. Accuracy was outstanding with 4 different loads - 2 factory and 2 of my own favorite handloads. For the money, this is the best bolt action rifle you can buy IMO.

This is my 3rd different Ruger American Rifle which i recently purchased here at Bud's, and all I can say is I love it. Compact, light, and no issues with hitting targets out to 300yrds (farthest I've tested so far) using 7 different brands of various weight bullets. I'm getting sub-one inch groups at 100yards using Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertip 140 Grain bullets. I'm also getting great performance using Privi Partisan 140 grain soft points too, so, lots of choices for those who do not want to reload ammunition for this caliber and don't want to break the bank buying premium brand ammunition. After sighting in the rifle I contacted Ruger Customer Support and after verifying Ser # to ensure it's compatible, I purchased from them the AICS magazine well conversion kit. Rifle performed great with box mag, but, the added versatility of using different cartridge capacity AICS's magazines has made things more fun for me. Either way, you can't go wrong with this rifle, and better yet, at this price !
