Great pistol, does everything right. Now the MK III Standard comes with a DRILLED and TAPPED receiver. I have an earlier one and was shocked to see the filler screws. No rail is included but that's not a problem. Great gun just got better.

The usual quality and "overbuilt" properties we have come to expect from Ruger. The trigger is a little gritty, but I suspect that will smooth out with use. The factory mags were fine, but I needed to make adjustments to some Mecgar aftermarket units that I already had. I also have a MkII Target model, purchased back in the early '80s that is more accurate and less fussy about ammo. I prefer the bottom magazine release of that pistol, as well. As others have commented, initial takedown is a challenge. You WILL need tools. A plastic hammer and brass or wooden punches are the minimum along with a padded bench. The above said, this is still the standard if one is looking for an all-steel 22LR pistol. I gave four stars as I feel that some of Rugers "improvements" (side magazine release in particular) don't truly improve the design, but I was well aware of this before purchasing. It is reasonably accurate and fun to shoot. I would highly recommend this pistol over some of the newer designs out there. It has endured since the 1950s for very good reasons.

Having owned and shot a lot of Ruger Products in my life time, I wasn't the least bit hesitant to purchase this pistol. What was even more enjoyable was the fact that Buds did exactly what they said they would do and the entire transaction went very smoothly. I am anxious to put some rounds down range now and see if the little gun can live up to its reputation. THANKS BUDS for making my day. You and your team or an asset to the shooting community.

Pros - Solid accurate 22lr pistol. Everything you could hope for in accuracy and craftsmanship. Cons - Hand grip feels a hollow/cheap. Small gripe as it is an easily replaced part. Good god listed to the stories on how hard this is to dismantle and clean. Even with the suggested tools and watching the videos to learn the process it was hard. After 5 or 6 dismantles it is starting to loosen up, but brand new it was ruff.

A bit of grittiness to the trigger but a Volquartsen sear cured that. Also added a Hogue grip, Volquartsen adjustable trigger, a BAM bushing, and a red dot sight. The pistol is now exactly as I want it, and is a pure joy to shoot.

the pistol is great-classic design, accurate, reliable and not picky to the ammo used with it. Downside is the cumbersome disassembly but a small price to pay.

First Ruger pistol I have ever owned. I took it out last week and my son ran a good 400 rounds thru it. One jam, but what caused it? Who knows probably the ammo. No big deal. Great little shooter. This gun is acurate enough for me, was hitting empty chew cans at 20 yards time and time again. I had more fun shooting it than anything else I took out that day. It is not the quickest thing to clean. Teardown is a little involved, not too bad though. There is a video series on the Ruger website showing how it is done. After 550 rounds, It was filthy, very filthy. We used Remington Gold. I would have no problem telling anyone this is a great gun to buy. The only thing I would like to see are better grips, they are cheap plastic. That's okay that keeps the price down.

This model has been around for years and always seems to please. Very accurate and fun to shoot. Fits in the hand with great comfort. Easy for my wife to cock too. I have never had a misfeed or jam and have tried at least 30 different types of ammo including Aguila SSS Sniper Subsonic Ammunition which cycles it without problems and makes for really quet shooting. Great plinking or starter gun.
