Why does Bud's no longer offer layaway on this gun?

It is temporarily suspended until further notice. They have a lot of catching up to do while maintaining a safe work environment for their employees. Also, a lot of people are losing or have lost their jobs. In order to have less issues for customers, they took it off for now, both 90 day and 180 day layaway options. They inactivated it for now. It’s too tough right now and that’s another thing they do t have to work on and focus on orders.

The "V" is actually supposed to be a Roman numeral 5 referring to the 5" barrel. The gun is an X-Frame and should fit in holsters intended for 5" or larger X-Frame guns.

Where can you get a holster for this gun, preferably nylon?

If you'd like a chest rig, consider the Desantis "Black Mamba" for the 460. Sure does distribute the weight well and makes all-day-carry a lot easier. Check the large on-line retailers.

Any issues with canted barrels or nonaligned barrels on this model. S&W has been horrible with quality control in the past.

Hector, I have not heard or read of any QC issues with this big caliber smooth shooting wheel gun. I feel that Smith & Wesson is your best bet/value/quality in any large caliber revolver. Pre 2006 performance center models had other then S&W barrels with issues, but not straight production 460s.

Hector, S&W addressed those issues quite some time ago. There have not been any negative fit and finish issues reported on recently manufactured pistols which says a lot about recent S&W QC.

while I have not heard of any quality issues with these S&W revolvers I feel that Ruger makes the best large caliber /heavy revolvers

Had some issues with the cylinder but the warranty covers most problems. X frames often have minor issues at first but still worth the price.

I was not sure about this gun until I shot it , and what a surprise! So this was a very smooth shooting gun and I was surprised the recoil was not much and the accuracy was on the money . I took this and my new 500 to range and I can tell you if I was going on a hog hunt , I would feel more comfortable with the 460 in my hand .

The performance of this handgun has exceeded my expectations thus far. With 454 ammo, the felt recoil is less than a model 627. The trigger in SA is sweet as can be. No mechanical issues thus far. Gun is very accurate. BUT, the finish on the frame is crap. It appears to have been partially completed? There are numerous swirls and tiny scratches contrasted with small areas of highly polished stainless. The quandary is -- send it back to S&W to be refinished or keep hold of the gun and use it? The QA/QC at S&W appears to be non existent for this model. I own two other Smith's, a Kimber, and a Springfield in stainless that make the 460xvr5" look like a used, beat up older gun, not the new one. On a positive note, the Norton price guarantee works. Bud's price dropped 3 days after the order was placed. Norton sent me the difference, $71, within a couple weeks.

I wanted this for soooo long and finally picked it up for myself. I had to arrange to finally sell that kidney to get it but it was soooo worth it. I already had the 8 3/8" flavor of the 460 but the five inch is sooo much sexier. I told myself I'd sell the other but she's a great hog gun. The 5" inch is the perfect wheel gun. Shoots three calibers, what's not to love?
