No sir that’s not recommended. I see what you mean though about comparing to a revolver.

George, you could but you should not due to case head spacing, 44 Magnum calibrated Recoil Spring and 44 Magnum calibrated Gas Piston. Safety and Warranty reasons should be first and foremost so Magnum Research would be the best source for info. P.S. Several members in Desert Eagle forums claim to have successfully done this without issue but, I take that with a grain of salt as I was not there. Cheers and stay safe Sir.

Specials will fit into the chamber and fire but will not cycle the gun which would necessitate racking the slide between each shot. The shorter case of the Specials will also increase fouling in the chamber which will negatively affect cycling of Magnums if you switch back without cleaning the gun thoroughly first. Overall, I would not recommend it.

Honestly, you will be able to shoot 44 special, but you will have issues. In a way it is like shooting a 380 ACP out of a 9mm pistol. There’s just not enough power to cycle the rounds, causing malfunctions. It’s much different in a revolver. I wouldn’t bother. I know some people actually practice malfunctions by purposely putting a couple of 380 ACP rounds in a full magazine of 9mm ammunition. That way they can practice clearing feeding issues, magazine issues, stovepipes, and so on. It was my pleasure to assist you.

Five stars placed my order on Monday arrived at my FFL on Thursday of the same week. took it out to the range today and fired 100 rounds of Magtech 240 grain sjsp and it ran 100% could not be happier. Thanks Buds!

The Desert Eagle is a novelty at best. It’s a fun canon to pull out at the range, and everyone wants to fire it once, and only once. I bought it in .44 and added a .50 AE barrel later. With the compensator installed it feels like the .44. This is by no means a defensive gun. Personally I would get the S&W 500 due to the reliability and accuracy. Whatever you do, do not buy 3rd party magazines for this thing, otherwise expect more than the usual ftf issues. And keep it wet. It may sound like I’m putting it down, but I really enjoy the DE. I bought it knowing of it’s issues. I’m a collector and it was something I always wanted after firing the mark VII years before buying the XIX. This was the first gun I bought from Buds and they are extremely easy to work with and have a great selection.

Jammed at least once per magazine,and the action would stay open about a 1/8 inch once new round was cycled.

Great price and service from Bud's which is why I'll always purchase here first. Amazing pistol and extermely accurate too. As long as you know what to feed your Desert Eagle, it will be reliable. This is not my first Desert Eagle, but it is the first one in this finish. Processing took about 7 business days but was shipped to my dealer after that day as promised.
