I wasn't a fan of the grips, so they were replaced first thing. Note, the grip screws are metric, and have smaller threads and larger heads than standard screws, so to replace grips you'll need to either modify the screw heads, or drill/tap the holes to accept standard screws. Next I gave it a good cleaning, oiled it up, and ran 300 rounds through it. I used 3 mags (the ACT it came with, a new Mec-Gar, and a used wilson combat) and 3 brands of ball ammo, and it ran flawlessly without a single FTF or FTE. Mine came with all black sights, front and back, which are hard to see against a black target. I think I'll paint some dots on to increase visibility. With the exception of the gritty and heavy trigger pull, it was a real pleasure to shoot. After getting home from the range I did a detail strip, and made a few minor reliability mods. Here's what I found after pulling it apart-

The good:
The barrel bushing fit and slide to frame fit are both very tight. The machining is very clean, with very few tool marks, and the tool marks that are visible are very light. The finish is very smooth and even. The firing pin stop is fit very tight, eliminating any extractor clocking. The grip safety is fit quite well, making it comfortable to shoot. It's also very accurate out of the box.

The bad:
The finish, while good looking, is pretty thin and not very durable. The trigger had a lot of play in it, both laterally and vertically. The trigger bow rails are some of the roughest I've ever seen, which was surprising considering how cleanly the rest of the frame was machined. The barrel link pin was fit so loosely that it fell out onto the floor during a simple field strip. I had to peen the ends a little just to get it to stay in place. The hammer pin is quite a bit larger than spec, and it and the sear pin both have nail heads with accompanying recesses machined into the frame, which might make finding replacements difficult. The guide rod appears to be contacting the barrel lugs, and will need to be relieved slightly.

Overall I'm happy with the gun so far, especially for the price.

I purchased this pistol on Tuesday afternoon, May 7 and received it on Friday morning, May 10. Shipping was great, with tracking numbers and shipping notifications. When I got the pistol home, I field stripped it and cleaned it immediately. I applied the provided oil/lubricant to all the moving parts. It was not totally gummed up with packing grease and the pistol's finish is just as advertised. I then took it to get a few extra mags at a local gun shop. When I showed the owner my new purchase, he immediately asked to see/handle it. He handed it back to me, asked how much I paid for it, and then laughed because he thought I was kidding. He was telling me that he'd never thought that this type of 1911 would be sold for less than $600. There is no wiggle in the slide/frame fit and every moving part is snugly fitted. When you first try to rack the slide, you will understand. It is so tight.

Just was able to take it to the range yesterday. Fired 150+ rounds without a single issue. It shot FMJ and JHP of several different brands through the provided ACT magazine and two Chip McCormick mags I purchased last week. I didn't have any problems with aiming as it was spot on.

Great pistol. Great customer service from Buds. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a 1911 but not wanting to spend $700+.

First off the best service and fastest shipping using Bud's. I took the 1911 to the range today and shot around 150 rounds through it without any issues. The pistol feels great and performed way better then my expectations would have been for a $450.00 1911. I shot 3 different brands of ammo through it 50 rounds each. The gun was so nice that a friend of mine who has been shooting a 9mm the past year told me he was going to order one of these from Bud's. The looks and the performance you would think you were shooting a higher end 1911. If you are thinking of buying a 1911 you cannot go wrong with one of these Girsan's.
