I was pleasantly surprised. For a $370 pistol, I wasn't expecting much. The gun feels really light in the hand. It actually looks better in person than in the picture.

The SD40 does not have a thumb safety. The trigger safety is all you get. The trigger is rather heavy, but is very crisp and has a nice audible reset. My wife has small hands and does not like the heavy trigger. I actually prefer it. I have only used snap caps, so I can't comment on how it feels live ammo. 40 cal is tough to find, and a little expensive these days.

The gun comes in a cardboard case, with two 14 round magazines. Finding extra magazines for any gun is almost impossible, so I wish they all came with 3 or 4. It is easy to take apart for cleaning. Overall, for the price range of this gun, it exceeds my expectations. I can't wait to shoot it.

You simply cannot beat S&W when it comes to quality handguns for an amazingly affordable price. This baby works and functions just like a Glock. The only difference is that it definitely fits my hands much, much, much better than a Glock. It shoots beautifully, I honestly can't tell a difference between .40 S&W and 9mm when it comes to recoil. The weight is perfect and it doesn't feel cheap when holding it. Pulling this thing out of the box at my local FFL made my day, and shooting it made my day again on the next day.

Of course, nothing but the best service from Bud's. If I'm looking for a particular gun, I always check Bud's first. This is sure to be one of many purchases from Bud's for me!

I am very satisfied with not only the speed of Bud's delivery, but also the product. This was my first time ordering through Buds and I will definitely be doing so again. I ordered the S&W SD40VE 40S/SS 14R on Feb 7th, it shipped on the 8th, and I picked it up from my FFL on the 13th. I was immediately pleased with the weight and overall feel of the firearm. There is no external/manual safety, which I did have a preference for, however I did some research and found that this model has somewat of a "long" or "heavy" trigger pull before the break. You really have to give a nice pull to the trigger for this gun to discharge. I feel very comfortable carrying this while loaded. This firearm is also simple to break down and clean. I am a first time pistol owner and was able to do this in the first hour of getting it home. The grip on the gun is also good, and it fit well in my hand. I would say that I have average to larger hands (am able to just palm a basketball). The sights on this firearm are also great. I prefer the 3dot set-up. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, and after looking around I have not found a better quality firearm, for this price. Unfortunately I have not been to the range yet due to a hectic schedule, but am going this weekend. I imagine that the firearm will perform flawlessly.

Recently purchased this along with my Rem. rifle. The SD40 is a nice gun for the money. No problems to relate on its maiden flight. When the mags. are fully loaded they have a tendency to rattle, but when locked into the grip the rattle goes away. The trigger isn't as bad as some say it is. I did order a trigger spring kit for it from Apex Tactical. Dropped the trigger from roughly 8 lbs. down to around 6 lbs. Made a big difference in the smoothness of the trigger, still plenty safe for being a ccw. Very nice pistol , glad I invested in it, and Buds was great to deal with.
