Beautiful 1911. The fit and finish is exceptional and it has a fabulous trigger. It has performed flawlessly with every make of ammo I have shot through it and it has been very accurate. Novak sights on this gun are easy to see. This is a very nice heirloom pistol.

I have owned this gun for a couple years now and must say this is by far the favorite of the four 1911's I've owned. The performance has been flawless with several hundred rounds down the tube. I shoot this gun very well, and I love the look of it. Any time I pull it out around shooting buddies it gets attention and compliments. This is a KEEPER! Pretty accurate, excellent balance and one good-looking Colt... and for the money. I'm sure there are more pricier, more loaded/upgraded varieties of 1911 Colts but this one is for keeps. Buds gave me a good deal... this one's, nor any other Colt if not mistaken, not even available in "soft-target" CA anymore.

Purchased mine on Buds lay a way, glad I did. Made payments easy. Colt make great weapons. Their price point is above all the other 1911s mostly other than maybe Sig and the custom shops. With so many lower cost clones out there eating up the 1911 market I can see how Colt mismanaged their way into bankruptcy (I know POTUS canceled contracts too). That may have been the case but praise to the men and women in the shop that make the products. My fingers are not a fan of the full length guide rod as far as field stripping goes, but I use the lip of the magazine to hold the cap down to work the busing so that is a non issue. So how does it shoot? Wonderful, crisp trigger, easy to work the slide with my old hands. It hung up three times in the first day out. FTE, after that not a single failure. Yes I did clean it before I shot it the first time, it just needed to break in I'm guessing. Thought long and hard about SS or Blue, I have my father's 1969 1911 and it finish is wonderful. This SS is a bit of a mat one, and I like that better than high gloss. The Ambi Safety is nice too, my grandson is left handed (4 yrs old) I'm certain he will appreciate Pappy's 1911 with an Ambi safety some day in the future. Overall, a worthwhile investment.

I purchased this 1911 because I wanted a Colt to go with my others. After cleaning it and going to the range my first round at 25 yards went exactly where I was aiming. Very accurate as would be expected. The finish and fit is good and in my opinion worth the money. I only put 100 rounds of FMJ thru it but it functioned flawlessly and was spot on. As yet I have not tried it with other types ammo so I cannot speak to that. Overall I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to someone looking for a good Colt 1911. I would have liked to have seen some night sights on it but I knew full well what I was getting when I ordered it and that can be changed later. I was somewhat surprised at the trigger pull. I expected it to be somewhat less. On my old school Brownell's gauge it is consistently breaking at 6 lbs. The Rock Island GI model I also just bought was breaking at 5 lbs. So with the 6 lb pull and the series 80 feature it is extra safe, you have to want it to go bang. All in all no buyers remorse.

A must have firearm. The fit and finish is spot on. Years ago I acquired a vintage 1940’s military issue Colt that was probably a million rounds past its prime and shot like it, I am sure some of the issues were mine as well. That got me to purchase a couple of Glock’s looking for a firearm that fit me and my shooting style. I recently rented a SXE at my local range and shot better than I did with any of my Glocks. The SXE I received from Bud’s shoots just as well if not better. The smallest groups I have shot in years. 150 rounds the first time out with 4 different manufactures of ammo and not a single issue. The next weekend when shooting with a friend, another 200 rounds with no issues and great groupings by both of us. Never even shot my Glock’s which were left at the range gun shop on consignment. I am on Buds website now to order a couple of more Colt’s, a defender for carry and maybe a Gold Cup. Thanks Bud’s for the great experience and prices. Great fit and finish, no rattles, accurate and reliable. Out of 500 rounds so far I have only had 2 stoppages, and both were caused by commercially bought reloads where the case wasn't sized properly and the bullets could be pushed back into them with finger pressure. Besides those I had no problems with Monarch brass cased and steel cased 230gr fmj, Remington HTP jhp, or Federal aluminum cased 230gr fmj. Trigger is great, about 4.5lbs and no creep. Ambi safety is kind of weak feeling but I'm sure a factory Colt replacement single sided safety will fix that. Works great with the two factory magazines, Chip McCormick Shooting Stars and Wilson 47Ds. Overall I think this is maybe my second gun purchase overall that I did not second guess myself after buying. It has a feeling of quality that definitely makes it worth the purchase price. I have no doubts in 50 years my grandkids will still be enjoying this gun.

With the vast number of good 1911's on the market today, I had given up on the idea of owning another Colt. So,I was pleasantly surprised when Bud's had this Colt XSE Gov't. model on sale for a screaming good price. My XSE arrived in good shape, but showed some fingerprints near the muzzle and a few scuffs on other parts of the gun. Thankfully, these rubbed out with some Hoppe's and a patch. I also noted that this particular gun did not have the blued hex grip screws that are pictured in current catalog photos of this gun. My gun arrived with stainless, slotted screws, which I actually prefer. I've also heard rumors that Colt is now shipping these guns with non-ambi safeties. My gun arrived with an ambi safety. The first 100 rounds through the gun were my own 185 grain JHP handloads. They all functioned perfectly, and there were no problems feeding, extracting or ejecting. Accuracy was very good. I ran a couple of targets out to 20 yards with 6" Shoot 'N C's, and every shot of the 20 shot group was a hit. The trigger was good, although not as good as the Magnum Research DE1911G that I purchased from Bud's several years ago. Perhaps, it will smooth out a bit more with use. I plan to take the XSE to the range again next week, but every indication is that this will be a 1911 that I will be glad to add to my collection. And, it's always nice to have a Colt again.
