Doubletap Hunter Hard Cast Solid Lead 40 S&W Ammo 20 Round Box - Brass Casing

Powerful ammunition designed in 40 Smith & Wesson caliber and intended to be used as backup in hunting situations against thick skinned and muscular animals. Not a +P ammo but loaded to what I consider maximum for safe pressure and best used in a full sized handgun. Bullet is a wad cutter type cast to Brinell hardness 21 weighing 200 grains and having a muzzle velocity of 1,050 feet per second which results in a respectable 490 foot pounds of muzzle energy (4 inch barrel). Designed to penetrate deeply into the target's vital areas at the cost of some expansion. Would not recommend for constant use but only for it's intended purpose to provide powerful backup in a large magazine format.

Back up ammo on a October 2022 bear hunt. Good range performance pre-hunt, did not have to use in the field.
