Sig Sauer MCX Spear-LT 5.56 16" Coyote Tan 30+1 - 16" Barrel, 30+1 Rounds, Synthetic, Coyote Brown Stock

The Spear is not perfect out of the box, but is still easily a 5 star rifle. The charging handle needs to be replaced. The muzzle device is as poor as reported and removing it seems like it's going to be an issue once I get around to it. I warmed up the barrel a bit on the range and white, crusty residue bubbled out from the flash hider. Thread locker? The trigger is nice, but slower than my finger and needs to be replaced. The Spear is not as light as the SCAR 16, not as heavy as the Galil Gen 2 16" in 5.59. I wish it came in black. It still earns 5 stars. The Spear excels where it counts. It's a balanced, reliable, well though out, shootable, accurate rifle. I ran under-powered steel cased .223, .223 and 5.56 PMC, and 75 grain Black Sabre will zero issues so far. Sig also got placement of the charging handle right, although it would have been nice if it came with one in adult size. Side chargers always get in the way. The right side bolt hold open lever is outstanding. The fit and finish are primo. It feels right in my hands. It feels right on the range.
