Hi and welcome to the Community. This design enables you to carry the weapon in a safe condition with the hammer down. double-action trigger pull is longer and heavier than the single-action variety, this can interfere with precision. In a DA/SA semi-automatic pistol, the reciprocating slide rearms the hammer after the first shot. As a result, every subsequent shot is single-action, making the trigger pull shorter and lighter. John, this has a single and double action trigger. So you can either pull the hammer back or rack the slide for a nice light single action trigger pull or you can chamber a round and decock the hammer so your first shot is a longer, heavier but quick double action pull. Following shots will be in single action. Hope this helps.
