SIGARMS INC Model P220 Semi Automatic Pistol

Sig Sauer 8 + 1 Round 45 ACP w/Stainless Steel Finish/3.9" Barrel

The modern Sig Sauer pistol story began with the P220. In 1976 the .45 ACP
P220 was introduced and quickly became recognized as one of "the most
accurate 45s right out of the box." Since that time the P220 has earned an
enviable record in hot spots around the world. The P220R features a
stainless steel slide machined from barstock and coated with a durable,
wear resistant Nitron finish, lightweight alloy frame with M1913 Picatinny
rail, and the Sig Sauer four point safety system of decocking lever,
patented automatic firing pin safety block, safety intercept notch, and
trigger bar disconnector. Supplied with 2 magazines.

Wow! My wonderful "1st wife" as I have called her for over 40 years gave me one of my best ever Christmas presents! This has become my new favorite. 100 rounds today with zero problems.
Big thank you to my still trophy wife and Buds!

This was my first order from Bud's. I placed my order on Monday about noon. I received two email the same day that my order was being processed and when it was in the shipping department. First thing Tuesday morning (less that 24 hours) I got the shipping information with tracking number. By Thursday I had my order in my hand (would have been on Wednesday if not for the largest snow storm in the Midwest in years).

The overall process was easier than driving to the gun store. They even had my favorite FFL already in the system (Gun Galaxy if you are in the Northeast Ohio area) so I did not even have to call the dealer. Just placed the order and within less than 72 hours my order arrived. Everything looks perfect so far; new in the box in spanking new condition. All that is left is to go to the range tomorrow and do a test fire....stay tuned.

I have been pondering this purchase for a long time. Every time I got ready to pull the trigger, the gun would sell just before I could get it. This time I jumped, and wow am I glad. This is the steel frame version of the Sig 220 with the shorter barrel. I have so far fired 90 rounds of Blazer ball and 50 rounds of LSWC reloads all with no feeding problems. The gun I got has the new 229 style external extractor some don't like. There have been no issues, though I wonder why they bothered the change. The old internal style has worked for years. I am a Sig Armorer, and I do admit the new style is easier to replace, but I suspect perhaps more necessary to replace in time.

The wood grips are certainly a bit "chubby", and I suspect I will either go to factory plastic grips, or perhaps the aluminum grips. This gun would probably be perfect with the Black aluminum grips Sig is putting on the new Dark Elite. I long thought from dry firing the SRT trigger in these Elite's was all hype. I must say this trigger really is an improvement. The reset is not only short, the pull is AMAZINGLY light. I shot a 47 out of 50 on my agency qualification course with the gun, only having shot 50 rounds of practice the day before. Those three rounds were all me, and most of the rounds chewed a hole right in the middle of the target. Accuracy is definitely up to P220 standards!

This gun is heavier then the standard 220 Carry I was toting around before. I wanted steel though, and I got it. This gun should outlive my kids. I often carry a full size 5" steel framed 1911, and this gun is no heavier on the belt, but certainly no lighter. If you are going to carry this gun, make sure you invest in a good belt and a good holster or you will not like it.

Mine also came with 2 magazines, so if Sig did cut back in the past, they are now still packing two. Many people complain about new Sigs and feel the quality has dropped from the past. I just do not see it. This gun is every bit as good as my oldest full size 220, and with a steel frame and solid machined slide, I have to imagine it will be far more durable in the long term. If it had slimmer grips, I would give it 5 starts, as it is with the chubbies, I will say 4.5.
