Great American made gun. It hasn't had any hiccups with factory or reloads. It barely has any recoil to it - I fire standard pressure 230 grain loads. It looks awesome if you're into the desert tan on black deal. I have an XDm with OD green frame, and I'm not real sure which one looks better...but onto the trigger, it isn't a light trigger, but I don't think you can call it heavy either. If you're one of these guys that thinks everything but custom 1911 triggers are garbage, then you wont like it. It's pretty gritty in initial take up, but I only notice it when i'm dry firing and actually testing the trigger. During firing, if you only let up to the trigger reset, you wont run into it...and I'm pretty sure if anyone ever has to use the gun for it's real application, the gritty trigger on the first round won't screw everything up and get them killed. So, I don't see why so many people make such a big deal out of the trigger...otherwise, it breaks very crisp and is a pretty good trigger with a decent reset. The night sights have been updated in the model that I received. The rear sight is now the type that allows for one handed racking of the slide. I was surprised and happy to see that. The dots and nice and big, with a good clean white ring around the tritium, which makes them easier to see during daylight as well. The thumb safety is crisp and positive as well. If you have really small hands or short fingers, it may be a little big for you. I'm 5'7" with small hands (I wear a size small in all of my duty gloves, if that helps) and the small back strap works good for me. I have a full size M&P .40 as well, and I'd say the small back strap on this .45 makes the grip about the same size as the .40 with a medium size back strap. I know it's hard to pull the trigger on these online purchases, so I hope this helps somebody out. I know i'm happy enough with it to make it my primary off duty gun.

I've purchased the S&W M&P 40 Compact and the M&P 45 full size. First off, I've never had much luck with S&W firearms. However, I do believe in buying American first. Which doesn't give you many choices now a days with Springfield, Glock and some Beretta being made overseas.

The S&W M&P 40 Compact is one SWEET little gun. It's very light, Very accurate, and never jams. It's a 40 caliber that feels like your holding a 380. I absolutely love my S&W M&P 40 compact.

As for my S&W M&P 45 ACP, it had problems feeding several different types of Ammo and Jamming on occasion. I realize it has a warranty and I could send it back to be corrected....
However, not only do I use my firearms for target practice, they're used for my personal protection. This means I can't accept anything that makes me wonder if it going to have a problem feeding or jamming after firing.

In short, It looks like S&W is getting better but I wouldn't want to put my life on the line with their product. My Kimber, Ruger or USA made Beretta, I never have to wonder about. They simply perform every single time.
