Born of the traditions of the Old West, the Rough Rider maintains much of the look and feel of the legendary Single Action Army revolver, only in a scaled down version. Chambered for the .22LR and .22 Magnum cartridges, the Rough Rider is manufactured using state-of-the-art precision machinery that assures its accuracy and reliability. The cylinder lock-up is tight and the perfect timing of the action makes for a handgun that will put its shots where you want 'em.
The machined barrel is micro-threaded and inserted into the frame for the optimal barrel/cylinder gap to give you maximum ammunition performance. A hammer block mounted in the recoil shield provides extra protection and has a red dot indicator that lets you know when the gun is ready for action. A new, more authentic looking flat-sided hammer paired with new exotic cocobolo grips, makes the Rough Rider both functional and handsome. There are also other grip materials available, plus finish options include the attractive and durable Smooth Silver Satin. When it comes to the Rough Rider there are no shortcuts taken!

Ideal for hunting, plinking or western action shooting, let the Rough Rider be your choice in a new rimfire revolver.

I have owned and shot several Heritage Rough Riders in the past. All were 6 shot and nothing fancy. I do like the odd manual safety because to shoot well a person should practice alot and dry fire drills are good practice. That odd safety, when activated, completely blocks the hammer from the firing pin. When a hammer slams a firing pin onto a empty chamber on this type of revolver damage is very likely. So flip that safety on with a empty cylender and dry fire away. No problem. Next my new Rough Rider is a 9 shot with fiber optic sights and both cylinders. I had read online and heard tales that the 9 shots were not great guns. So far I can't find any reason to not call mine a great gun. It's is inexpensive, 2 calibers, very accurate, fun as fun gets, and as of many plinking sessions with various ammo, it has operated smoothly and flawlessly. A good choice for a all around, kinda do all work horse adventure gun.

I love mine, However, Had I known that heritage makes several versions with a steel frame, I would have purchased one of those instead (NOTE: all stainless models carry the designation [SRRxxxxxxxx] as the 1st three digits of the model number, as opposed to [RRxxxxxxx] for the "pot metal' versions.) Cons first - No steel frame... As you can see in the picture. the cylinder teeth are already denting the recoil shield, and Ive shot less than 400 rounds through it. Time will tell if this is a major problem or not. The upgrade to steel frame costs less than $25 from this model, so It's something to consider. - On my 9 shot version, the chambers do not exactly line up with ejector, although I've found reports contradicting my own on this point. - Adjustable rear sights aren't worth much if the front sight has been installed off center, as mine has. However, I always shoot better when I just point anyhow. So, again, I probably should have gone for the traditional blade/notch option. Pros: - Price, Gun costs like 200 clams, wheres the risk? And being chambered in 22lr/22wmr you can actually afford to shoot the thing. - FUN, If you don't love a single action revolver, then you need Jesus. - Safety, I actually like the hammer block safety for protecting the chambers from the rim-firing pin. Some might wince at this, but I use the safety to practice my trigger pull (on an empty gun of course) and have noticed only slight peening of the hammer where it contacts the pin block. ALSO, This hammer block safety is substantial, and difficult to disengage WITHOUT pulling back the hammer to notch one or beyond. I personally would feel safe carrying it with all chambers loaded. -Affordable Conversion cylinders can be got for 22wmr if the model you fancy don't include one. (MAKE SURE YOU GET A CYLINDER WITH THE SAME CHAMBER COUNT AS YOUR STOCK CONFIGURATION) My take: Get one with a steel frame, get a 22 WMR cylinder for it, get a ton of ammo in both calibers, & DO IT YESTERDAY!!!

Love Mine! It's very accurate, with a soft as butter trigger at the Snap! I got the Nine Shot with the Three Dot Adjustable Sights for my old eyes, and both .22mag-.22LR Cylinders for four and two legged Varmints. I picked the same grips and finish w/6.5" barrel. (<< black/coco wood) I shot 200 50gr magnum rounds the first time out and some .22shorts< V-LOUD! lol. After 2000+ rounds I can now do 150rd golf ball holes in base ball sized groups at 50 feet with LRs, and it's still running great.

For the price, this 22LR/22WMR pistol is a good deal. Two (9) round cylinders, fiber optic ADJUSTABLE sights and nice wood grips were very well received by my friends shooting it at the range. The sights had to be adjusted for windage and elevation which took less then 20 rounds to Zero in at 25 feet. The only problem I had was the 22LR cylinder would lockup thus required deburring around the spindle using a wire wheel brush. The single action reminds me of the pistols used on the show 1883 of Yellowstone and Clint Eastwoods cowboy movies. Have shot over 200 LR rounds and 100 WMR rounds so far. The WMR rounds are more powerful than my 380 but less than my 9mm carry/conceal firearms. Buds did a great job getting the pistol to me within 7-10 days. This particular model is difficult to purchase due to lack of supply. I gave it a 5 but should be a 4.5 rating due to the cylinder problem.

Love this gun. Fun to have in back yard just shooting targets. Love the 9 shot option and the fiber optic sights are a very nice touch. If you dont have one, get yourself one right now.

Huge advantage to having adjustable rear sights, I get great accuracy for a very inexpensive SA 9 shot revolver.

I've been watching for these for a while and finally jumped on the 9 round combo model. The gun arrived in good shape, and was according to the description. The pictures never are, so I always refer to the Mfg. Model number on their own website to compare notes. The sights looked good, though the optic colors are totally backwards. I never want the brightest optic closest to my eye. It needs to be on the front sight post. The little pistol was comfortable to handle and shot close to the point of aim with multiple ammo loads and with both cylinders at 17 yards. It was a really good thing, since the rear sight adjustment screw is frozen in place and won't move. Lucky for Heritage. You'll never shoot the eyes out of a snake with it, but it should take care of most other vermin. It's finest hour is just plinking. My groups off a rest ranged around 2-4". The red grip is beautiful, and offsets the cheap painted frame that will chip away quickly in the first hour you shoot it. All other metal is blued. The trigger sucks, but we'll fix that quickly. Remember it's the basement bargain. My alternate selection was going to be the Super Wrangler, but to be on par I would need to add the $29.99 Altamont grips and another $40 for the fiber optic front sight (for bad eyes only). That puts the Ruger way above the Rough Rider's price level and you'll still have only six in the drum with the other one. If I get the sight screw loosened up I'll be satisfied for the money spent. Heritage still gets 3 stars, and Bud's barely makes 4. You can't get 5 if you're gouging. Charging an extra $30 for the Bud's Club plus shipping and tax (Approx.$50 extra), penalizing me for the cash discount, threatening remarks about cash payments on hold for an extra 5 days, and storing my I.P. address for this review= they are really getting close to not getting any future orders. My advice is shop around and compare diligently when shopping the cheapest markets.

Great fun. Works great. I really like the option of switching from .22 to .22 Mag.

A great thing about Buds is the variety of options they have. This is one of them. I've seen this revolver at gun stores near me but they were all 6 shots. I was looking for the 9 shot one, found it here and wasted no time buying it. As always, the process was easy and the gun arrived quickly at my FFL of choice. Thanks Buds, keep up the good job. Ps: I like my Heritage Rough Rider 9 shot 22lr - 22WMR for plinking as well. Good stuff!
