Great gun fun to shoot.

As a child of the 60's, I have always wanted a Colt SAA type revolver. I have a first-year production Marlin Cowboy limited in .45 Colt, and wanted a revolver to go with it. I sometimes hunt deer with my carbine, and because it has a strong action, my .45 Colt loads tend to be a bit stouter than factory ammo usually is. Most .45 Colt ammo is made with older Colts and clones in mind that cannot handle more powerful loads. The only handguns I was aware of that could handle hotter loads in .45 Colt were Rugers and Contenders. When the Ruger Vaquero first came out, I bought one, much to my dismay, and hated it. It had factory flaws, such as barrel stamping that caused bumps on the inside of the barrel. It was sent back to the factory three times for repair, before I sold it to a dealer. I vowed to never own another Ruger product again. Still, I wanted a SAA type revolver so bad I could taste it!. EAA makes their big bore "Bounty Hunter" revolvers in both .44 Magnum and .45 Colt, using the same frame. That tells me that this handgun is made strong. Reviews by other shooters back that up. While I don't intend to shoot mine with .44 Mag power-level ammo, I will be using warmer ammo than is typically found in most factory ammo, and knowing that this revolver can handle that was a big factor in my purchase. The revolver arrived at my FFL in great condition, with a tight action, deep bluing, and even though I was not expecting much, the walnut grips had a pretty grain to them. Some reviewers have commented that their gun came with issues like an ejector that tended to catch due to burrs, but mine was fine. The fit and finish on mine is perfect, and I have no complaints whatsoever. This gun is actually manufactured for EAA by Weihrauch, in Germany. A German friend tells me that Weihrauch is well-known there for their target and competition rifles, so they do have quite a bit of experience in firearms making. I have seen and handled many of the Italian clones of the Colt SAA over the years, and quite frankly, most left me less than impressed. This EAA Big Bore 45LC 4.5 6 BL is all I could ask for in a SAA clone, and then some.
