COLT CBX TACHUNTER 308 20" 5 Round Gray - 20" Barrel, 5+1 Rounds

The Colt CBX TackHunter is an awesome rifle. It performs every bit as well as Colt says it will in their documentation. I am glad that CC got involved in colts business. I like to purchase firearms from Buds Gun Shop because of their awesome customer service!

I’ve just had this a couple weeks and got my first chance to sight it in. Overall it’s a great rifle and can’t wait to get more time with it. Here’s a couple things I found that’ll be useful to first timer with this rifle. 1. Finding a scope base was difficult. It requires a Remington 700 base with 8-40 mounting screws. I originally got the standard 700 base with smaller screws so I wish the owners manual said something about that. Leupold makes one with the right screws. 2. The trigger is a little stiff but the manual says it’s adjustable, I just haven’t tried to adjust it yet. It breaks pretty clean. 3. After initial bore-sighting, first group of three was ~3” pattern at 100 yards with generic 150grain rounds and a vortex 5x25 scope. There was light rain starting and a second round of 3 was able to fine tune it down to about a 2” group. Gave up after that as a downpour started. So I’d call the accuracy pretty good. 4. I really like the stock. It came with an extra cheek riser and buck stock shims which seem pretty good, though I wish the highest cheek riser was a little higher. I may get an extra pad to wrap around it to get another 1/4” rise. 5. Recoils pretty serious, No way to keep an eye on the target after firing. May want to find a brake to install on the barrel if that’s important to you. Or maybe try the 6.5 version and see if that’s better.
