This is a nice basic hunting rifle that filled a niche in my collection for a good quality rifle that I would not mind taking outside in bad weather or leaving it locked up in my Jeep while I go in a restaurant for a meal . This rifle has a lot of features I like that you don't always see in more expensive rifles like a hammer-forged barrel , forged one piece bolt and receiver , and a nice crisp trigger . Howa has a lifetime warranty and warrants their rifles to shoot less than one minute of angle at 100 yards with premium ammo . I had trouble obtaining that level of accuracy until I switched from 180 grain bullets ( which I prefer in 30-06 ) to 165 grain bullets where I got 3 shot groups of three quarters of an inch . Five shot groups opened up about twice that much as the barrel is pretty thin and heats up fast . I don't see that as a problem on a hunting rifle . I think this rifle is a great deal for the price and I would not hesitate to purchase another Howa . Bud's has always come through for me and this purchase was no different .
