The Savage 11 TH XP is a entry level hunting rifle. The package is great as it comes with the Nikon scope mounted and bore sighted. Only took eight rounds to put it into the X. The construction, fit & finish is what you would expect for a gun in this price range. The only problem we had was the bolt instalation and removal seem overly complicated compared to other bolt action rifles that we have. Once fitted the bolt seems to drag and bind and does not cycle smoothly, after a little valve seating paste to polish the serface's and a good cleaning and lubrication it works better. This will be my grandaughter's first deer rifle and she is looking forward to this fall season.

As Always, Bud's is spot on. Great little rifle for a lefty.

Ordered this rifle to put together a budget long range rig. After a quick bedding of the action I'm holding 3/4MOA and have put rounds on target out to 1,015 yards so far. For the price, you absolutely can't beat the value of this rifle.

Shoots very well. Have tried Winchester Deer Season 125s, Hornady American Whitetail 129s and Federal Non Typical 140s. All are MOA or better, with the Federals being the best - 1/2" group at 100. Once I have a pile of brass I'll start handloading for it. It's light and handles well. Just what I was looking for. Scope was better than expected - decent glass. However, Savage dropped the ball on mounting it. Rings were not tight and crosshairs were not square to the action. Was not even close to being bore sighted. I expected that though. Rings will work, but are not great quality. Bases look ok and were tight. Some feeding issues with the 125s and 129s. 140s feed smooth with no issues. I understand this is a common Savage problem but I haven't looked into it yet. For the price I think it's a great rifle.

Concerning Bud's Guns, I had a good experience with your business, you had the no so common item that I wanted, in stock. My order was processed the day I made the request. The price was about what I expected. The order arrived earlier than promised and in good shape. No problems at all. Thanks, your left hand shooter, TA

I hate to say I was disappointed in this rifle, it has more cons then pros. I think this is a great rifle but it's the small stuff that stood out and led to my disappointment. Keep in mind I am writing this almost three weaks since I've bought the rifle and I've shot 24 rounds through the rifle. I'll start with the pros, first of all I think the weight of the rifle is great to its size I've had no issues firing standing up off the shoulder. The stock is well balanced and quiet comfortable for being synthetic, I did order a Boyd's at-one stock but have not installed it and won't for a bit. On paper it did great 2 inch grouping at 200yards I was happy with that, the 6.5 dowsnt pack to much of a punch on this set up. Now the cons, first right of the box the scope fell off the mounts were loose and one wasn't inline with the other, wasn't sure how it had been mounted. Had to get the scope remounted and bore sight. Second laying around in the box was a baffle assembly that is suppose to be on the bolt, it wasn't in the packaging with the bolt and it popped back into place oddly and doesn't seem to be seated right. My next major problem is that after shooting it and two weeks later the stainless steal bolt has surface rust on it and some on the barrel. I've showed it to a gun smith and he was surprised that it was already rusting just after one trip to the range, yes I did clean the bolt after I came back. I've contacted Savage and have yet to hear from them on this issue. The rifle shoots well just do t see it holding up well and in my opinion spend a little more to a savage 10 model. Shipping took a week but I order on a holiday weekend so it's understandable. I am waiting on a Reply from savage to see if they will fix this issue with the rusting bolt, I felt like I got a returned rifle that someone else didn't want just because it had the issues it did that I did not catch before doing the transfer. Till next time I will still buy through Buds. Thank you
