This is a beautiful, precision built, revolver. Along with the barrel length that always appealed to me. Plus I am able to use all the lesser .451 diameter cartridges, namely the Great old 45 Long Colt, as well as the 454 Casull. +P 45 Long Colts which are loaded as powerful as the wonderful 44magnum. Along with a larger bullet diameter.

The craftsmanship of this revolver is excellent, very beefy as it should be with this caliber. What I take exception to are the cheap grips that came with it. They appear quite anemic when compared to the large frame revolver, almost comical. The seam of the grip on the back of the handle has gaps, sometimes overlapped. I thought they just needed to be tightened but upon further inspection, the inside of these grips display the "Uncle Mike" logo and "for Ruger Blackhawk." In my opinion, these grips are sub-standard and should not be considered a factory issued item. Also, why not put a grip on the revolver that is actually made for it instead of something that "almost fits?" I hate to base my review on this revolver's grips but after all, this is where the weapon and shooter are connected and could easily make or break the experience of firing it. I will not attempt to fire it until I find a set of grips that are worthy of this fine weapon. Revolver and frame: A , grips: F.

BFR are quality products. I preferred the look of this vs the S&W model. I am happy with both the gun and Buds. I have no cons to issue on this gun. They are big, heavy and the ammo is expensive, so know what you are ordering beforehand. I use mine for hunting purposes and it comes scope ready. :)

Once again, Buds shipped to my FFL in 2 days. First time at the range, the range master came down from the tower to personally see what an awesome gun this is. Some recoil, but manageable with the 10" barrel. He said that's not for home defense I hope and I replied no, just in case an 800 pound grizzly tries to pull an ambush on me. and the 500SW Magnum was not available at the time I wanted a BFR. Superior quality and it looks great next to the .50 AE Desert Eagle in the vault!
