The Mark XIX Desert Eagle is a gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol with a trigger reach of 2.75" and a sight radius of 8.5". The construction of the Mark XIX Desert Eagle utilizes the latest CNC machine technology providing exacting specifications with tight tolerances creating a work of art in a precision firearm. The grip is anatomically formed and provides an ideal hand seating angle for two-handed shooting allowing for comfortable, rapid and accurate firing. It feature a full picatinny style accessory rail on the barrel from the end of the chamber to right behind the front sight and standard ambidextrous safeties.

It was a pretty beast of a gun, unfortunately, mine served me as pretty shelf novelty item and a very expensive paper weight. Tested with four brands of ammo, switched out magazines but still kept getting hang ups (FTF). Every three to five rounds, I had to slam the slide into battery, sometime eject the round entirely and chamber the next round. Sent it back and haven't considered buying another DE. I must've gotten a lemon, but it's not cool to get a $1,600 lemon. Later on, I'll probably consider a 1980s IMI made version.

I have always wanted a 44 DE and was finally able to get one. Not really for conceal carry, but still very impressive. The weight of the gun definitely counteracts the recoil, so I could let my wife shoot it. I would suggest buying OEM mags. I bought some from Pro Mag and had problems with the gun jamming. The magazine that came with the gun worked just fine. So I ordered more from Magnum Research.

Its a beast! If you've never held one... you'll be surprised at how big it is. Overall the gun is great but I did have a lot of feeding issues with different ammo. Also, when shooting the gun there is a lot of blow back. You'll feel little particles hitting you in the face so make sure you've got some eye protection before firing it. Its not a practical gun - just gives the owner some bragging rights. I've shot it once so far. Don't think I'll be shooting it again for a long time.
