I am very pleased with the TA5 I purchased from Buds at an unbeatable price. I haven't had any jams, misfires or stove pipes when using any brand of brass case 230 grain .45 ACP ball ammo and it is accurate to at least 100 yards (max distance at my local range). A major plus is that stripping, cleaning and reassembly is very easy and straight forwards. I highly recommend this firearm to anybody who is in the market for such armament.

As always, Buds service was excellent. Really cool gun. Function is good. Finish is ok, but could definitely be better.

I'm very pleased with my purchase. I already own one Thompson M-1 type that I SBR'd a couple years ago. I ordered this pistol version with the same intent. The aluminum receiver makes this version significantly lighter than the steel frame models. It is important to note that the rear sight is not as shown in the above photo or on Auto Ordnance's web site. This pistol version comes with the stamped rear sight with the triangular protective ears. Also noteworthy is that the grip frame is different as well. The photo shows a step in the grip fram behind the pistol grip which is the area where a buttstock would normally be fitted. This will complicate my efforts at creating an SBR as I will need to have that step machined onto the grip frame to be able to attach a stock once the stamp has been approved. The gun functions perfectly and the sights are nicely regulated. The wood is beautiful and the finish is perfect. A Thompson is more of a novelty until it's SBR'd. Once SBR'd it becomes a very functional and utterly badass looking weapon. As always Buds service was great. The price was unbeatable and the layaway option really helped.

Love the look of the 1927 A1 pistol, and I am glad that I went with the 50-round drum, as I think its size fits the look of the gun better. Also, the weight of a loaded 100-round drum added to the weight of the steel receiver (I opted for steel over aluminum) was more than I wanted to handle. The loaded 50-round drum will give me plenty of exercise. Getting the bolt locked back is a bit tough at first, but mainly due to the stiffness of the spring rather than difficulty with the "third hand" that comes with the gun. I'm hoping that the spring loosens up as the gun gets broken in. I will probably order the carrying case for this gun, as it arrives from in a foam-lined cardboard box.

Beautiful firearm! Mine functions flawlessly, with everything I have tried: Wolf steel case, Fiocchi, Sellier&Bellot, and WWB Hollow point! Steel cased or brass cased it feed and ejected as expected, no case expansion noticed nor any case damage. I received it exactly as pictured on this website - mine has the ladder rear site with protection and the press and pinned front blade. It has a really, really great wood to metal fit. The wood is some of the prettiest walnut I've seen on a mass production rifle. I cleaned then coated the wood several times with Howard's Feed & Wax which darkened it a bit which gave me the color I prefer. Groupings varied with different ammunition, as one would expect. 200 yard 10" gongs were easy to ring, however, as fun as that was, I have no intent at shooting it for any reason other than that; there will be no checking groupings for MOA measurement with this weapon - this one is for showing off at the house to friends and then fun plinking at goings and plastic bottles from 0 to 300 yards. Without a doubt, this is absolutely the best .45 rifle giving you the best bang for your buck, and you DO get bragging rights with it. If you don't have one, better get one before you can't, and buy it from Bud's Gunshop. Not only did Bud's do everything they said they would when I purchased it, they have the best prices on firearms - hands down, no complaints and don't expect there ever will be with Bud's Gunshop.

Just an FYI - rear sight is not as pictured. You will get the M1 style fixed "L" post with the rabbit ears. Not a fault of Bud's but a design change (economic redesign -cheap?) by Auto-Ordnance. A-O hasn't even updated their website or spec's on the TA5 with this change. Gotta hand it to Bud's Customer Service team for going above and beyond to help me and all future customer's. Other than not knowing A-O's change of rear sight - it's got an 8.
