Stuart, I will have to base my opinion on the materials used. I have both a Heritage and a Cimarron and Cimarron is a good bit better quality pistol.

of the 2 I would take the Cimarron but the Rugers are hands down the best quality

No Sir Mike. This is nowhere near the toughness of the Ruger Super/Blackhawks/Redhawks and other pistols that can routinely fire these "Heavy" loads. Just Standard ammunition for this one.

I an looking to get into Cowboy Action Shooting and I am thinking about this gun

My only concern would be the durability of the rough riders but other than that I think it would be a fine gun for cas its not my ruger but its 1/2 the price and would be great to see if you are going to enjoy CAS

I have not personally Sean but, some have and there has been no complaints. The H&R Big Bore Rough Rider gives the accuracy, and the performance you need for western action shooting or small game hunting. The action features a frame mounted inertia firing pin, and transfer bar safety for added protection. It seems to be an excellent pistol quality/reliability wise for the $. It should do just fine for the exciting sport of Western Action Shooting.

I recently bought the 22lr Heritage Rough Rider and absolutely love it. I have to have one of these now. For those who own both guns what are the differences and similarities as far as finish and all other aspects (except the obvious of caliber). Gorgeous looking gun.

I own a Heritage Rough Rider 22/22Mag Combo with 6.5 inch barrel. I have a brother that owns a 45LC model with 5.5 inch barrel. Craftsmanship is slightly better(Blueing, less tool marks in the metal and is 3 or 4 ounces heavier even with a 1 inch shorter barrel. I still love both just the same.

Rough Rider ... the very image conjured up is of the rugged men led by Theodore Roosevelt up Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill over 100 years ago during our war with Spain. That same image of ruggedness might also be applied to the newest Big Bore Rough Rider revolver from Heritage. Almost the "spitting image" of the Single Action Army still be carried by some troops during the Spanish-American War, this latest six-shooter comes chambered for the legendary .45 Colt cartridge, .44-40 and .357 Magnum. This fine handgun can be had in the traditional 4.75", 5.5" and 7.5" barrel lengths, just like the original. Blue, nickel, stainless and blue/color-case hardened finishes are available and each gun is fitted with attractive one-piece cocobolo grips. Fun gun for plinking and inexpensive shooting. Acceptable quality but you get what you pay for. Decent trigger good accuracy easy to load and empty. Not picky about ammo. Happy with the purchase

I really like this pistol and was happy to get it for the price I paid. Payment, shipping and dealing with the FFL at this end was simple and expedient. The pistol is well put together and its fit and finish are excellent. Now if I can just learn to hit the target with it. It does not shoot like my 1911. Thanks, Bud's!

I really like this 45 caliber colt clone from rough rider, it shoots well and is fairly accurate. The fit of the handle is a little off but not enough to make me dislike this gun. If you are looking for a 45 colt cowboy gun at an affordable price I encourage you to give the roughriders 45 a chance. You wont be sorry!

This is a great budget revolver. Well built and is very accurate. The cylinder action & trigger are very smooth. I've used a few different brands of ammo and it all functioned perfectly.

I love this pistol. The weight causes no recoil. The fit and finish is great. I have had it for 2 weeks and have put 200 rounds though it. I is the most accurate hand gun I own. If you what a 45 LC, get this one.
