Ensure Firearm Is Legal In Your State

Introduced by the U.S. Army in 1873, this cartridge was first known as the .45 Government. As it made its way into commercially produced firearms the name .45-70 appeared, because it was loaded with a 70 grain blackpowder charge with 405 and 500 grain bullets. Virtually all rifle making companies of the late 19th century chambered their single shots and lever actions for the .45-70. As those companies and their rifles faded away, the .45-70's popularity did not. Factory .45-70 ammunition has been cataloged continuously since 1873 but never in the variety of loadings available now, in the 21st century. They range from 405 grain lead bullet, low-velocity loads for deer hunting and target shooting to high-velocity 300 to 400 grain jacketed bullet ones meant for large game. The Model H010 .45-70 can handle them all. Its receiver is blued steel fitted with an 18.43" round barrel underneath and a tubular magazine of four-round capacity. Its pistol-grip buttstock and steel-capped forend are crafted of beautiful American walnut and cut with checkering to provide a sure grip. The buttstock wears a soft rubber pad to help shooters handle .45-70 recoil from a 7.08 lb. rifle. The model H010 will be factory issued with fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, and brass beaded front sight. Because the receiver is drilled and tapped, scope mounting is an easy option.

I ordered the rifle on a Sunday nigh and had it in my hands Wed. morning. Talk about fast! I've not had it to the range yet, but am eagerly anticipating the trip out. The rifle was exactly as described and pictured, a very beautiful rifle. Almost to nice to shoot, ALMOST. I am very pleased with Buds this was my 2nd order with them and look forward to continued business with them, great job guys.

Shipping was extremely fast. 1 budsgunshop.com. The rifle is extremely accurate and works flawlessly. I have one minor problem. The 2nd shot I put through the rifle made the stock chip where it connects to the receiver on the right side of the hammer. It isn't a huge deal, but I'm trying to contact Henry to get it fixed. I had the rifle looked at by an excellent smith and all they said was it was a minor flaw in the wood. Other than that. The rifle is way nicer than the marlin lever actions I have seen lately.

The gun looks great and shoots perfectly. mine came with buckhorn sights, not the xs ghost sights it was supposed to have on it. I did call Henry's customer service and asked them about it. I was told that the new guns will NOT have ghost sights on them becuase people were not able to get enough elevation out of them, so they went back to the buckhorn sights. I do not believe this is buds gun shops fault. Henry's web site has the same info as buds does.

I received the new Henry H010 45/70 in Aug 2014 from Buds Guns, and the packaging and shipping was as always first class. The rifle in 45/70 is Great !!!
The only negative about the rifle is the Ghost Ring sight. I sure hope to find a good Buckhorn, or ladder type open sight for it.
