My Lyman Trade rifle had a breech plug and barrel separation after about 20 shots. This is a very dangerous defect, which was actually known to Lyman and had prompted a recall. Somehow I still got one of the rifles under recall. Long story short, I was lucky to escape serious injury and Lyman sent me a Great Plains Rifle and gear at no cost to me. They did the right thing but if you buy one of the Lyman muzzleloaders CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBER AGAINST THEIR RECALL NOTICE.
