Very nice construction for the Double Tap .45 ACP. Handgun does have some kick to it but is not unmanageable and would not even be felt in a stress situation. At the range I just wear a leather glove and do not have a problem. This pistol is unbelievably thin and is very easy to conceal while being very comfortable as well. No protrusions sticking out which makes IWB carry very nice. The .45 ACP in this small and comfortable form for a carry pistol is awesome! It is about the same size as the current generation of .380 autos but offers super reliability and POWER. I plan on getting a 9mm barrel as well. Some people criticize only having 2 shots but with the .45 ACP or 9mm who needs more from 2 to 10 feet? I do not plan on having shootouts with this thing but with the simple point and pull the trigger process this pistol offers very quick and reliable engagement if needed. Anyway this pistol has a built in storage compartment in the handle where you can carry 2 more rounds if needed. Having 4 rounds of .45 ACP or 9mm is plenty for concealed carry self defense. Very satisfied!

The previous reviewer's comments are spot on. OUCH!!! My hand was sore for 2-3 days after firing just 2 rounds. I also had a failure to fire on the first round. The same cartridge did fire when hit the 2nd time with the firing pin. I didn't have gloves so I wasn't able to fire more rounds to determine if it was a ammo issue or a firearm issue. It was quality ammo so it shouldn't have been the ammo.

Definitely a last ditch kind of gun. Also, it's not even that small. My bodyguard is about the same size. yes, I know it's only a 380 but you get a lot more rounds and you're not afraid to pull the trigger.

May look at getting the 9mm barrel for it.

OUCH says it all. If your wrists are not strong - do not fire this gun. This is either a conversation piece or an absolutely desperate "last chance" concealed weapon. Yes, I can put the bullet on target at 21' but every trigger pull produces pain. I may buy the interchangeable 9mm barrel, it should be usable without pain.

Not a bad gun design or an idea. Yes it packs a bit of a punch and isnt very much fun to shoot because it honestly hurts every time its fired. My issue is with the headspacing on these. Ive had numerous times where mine failed to fire and I had to pull the trigger more than once. This is with various types of ammo. Also the porting on the bottom barrel ruins the finish on the upper barrel. buds was great as usual though.

well i must say, read some reviews before buying this so i knew i was in for some recoil action on the heavy side. even the manufacturers hand book states this gun is only for self defense and not target shooting ect., and has a severe recoil! Owning numerous 45's as well as other guns, shooting them all my life--i felt like i could handle anything, so in a self defense situation i wanted the highest caliber defense concealable i could get--so i got this bad boy--45 cal ported version. the one nice thing being ported, when firing it pretty much stays on the same horizontal plain keeping the second shot right on the same level. as for the recoil--i shot it 6 times pretty much in a row with 230 grain rounds. the recoil was the strongest by far i have ever felt. numerous other family members shot it and only cleared the 2 shots before handing it back, unwilling to send another shot or 2 down range. after an hr or so i was unable to close my hand around a pop can. this lasted for almost 2 days. the recoil concentrates its force between your thumb and trigger finger. i must say--it totally sucked shooting. put in the 185 flat nose and its tolerable. i shoot it every other time i go to the range to get it to be second nature to fire it--instead of dreading shooting it and hesitating and regretting that. if i go to a place like a bar or some thing--i load the 230 grain--it only carries the 4 shots---i just wouldn't expect to use my hand anytime soon after that. even thought about getting the 9mm barrel and using 147 grain bullets, but the damn 9mm barrel is almost as much as the whole 45 cal alone!! so i am using it as i intended to--but am not happy with the super strong recoil-just me though--the gun is as it says it will be-i think it would have helped with some sort of shock absorber in the design of the handle to help minimize that ass kicking recoil of the 45.

ps read the other review on the guy who took it to the range and didn't have any problems with it or notice any heavy recoil---(superman--be cool or u will give away ur identity)
