So I received my Taurus PT 1911 today. It came in a decent amount of time as usual. But I will say this it was dirty dirty dirty. This by the way is my first 1911 and I will say I do like it. It has a nice weight to it not heavy at all like some people say 1911's are nice tight construction too little to no wiggle or slop I guess so.e people say. I haven't shot it yet so no comments there. But its a pretty nice looking piece I must say I'm not a 1911 fan but this won me over. So I recommend you all try it out.

Finish is above average. There are a few machining marks, but nothing that disturbs functionality. Fit and finish are more than acceptable.

I have run a few hundred rounds through the gun. The ammo represented a variety of manufactures, loads, steel & brass. Honestly, some of the ammo was pretty rough. It has cycled every single one, without a FTF or FTE. This is what a 1911 is supposed to do. I seriously doubt that my Colt 1911 Series 70 could function as well.

Recently it was disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Nothing out of the ordinary to report.

I like this handgun. It was great value for the price paid.

bought this during the summer blowout sale.

nice looking pistol and it came in the taurus box with one ACT mag. full length one piece guide rod and a take down wrench made of nylon. mine had the taurus billboard slide. was hoping for a plain one.

at first glance the pistol looked fine. a trip to the range showed the pistol was not quite as good as it looked.

the first issue was the barrel bushing it was very loose fitting as the slide slot was machined a hair too big causing the bushing to move forward as much as 2mm.
the trigger pull on this example seemed OK at first --but after firing a few rounds it seemed to get very hard-- the firing pin stop was froze to the slide--LOL

the slide to frame fit had a small amount of slop in it-- nothing major but enough to notice if you looked hard. the safety hole in the frame is also a tiny bit too big when the in the safe position showing a bit of exposed hole when on safe.
it had some problems feeding JHPs too.

nothing wrong with the taurus plastic grips but i replaced them with some cocobolos, a change to a wilson hammer and sear solved the trigger problem. the frame seems to very good with the exception being the JHPs . after the tune up is has been 100% reliable with FMJs it seems to be very accurate. put in a new oversized barrel bushing solved the walking out problem--

a little polish on the ramp may fix the problem with the JHPs as it is very close to working with them..

i thought the double safety might be a problem but i have grown to like it. the grip safety fits and functions perfectly.

be aware these are series 80s. with extra safety things like plungers and levers. the one i got really wouldn't do a first time 1911 owner. too many little problem areas. they may not all be like the one i got so YMMV.

for what this sold for though i have no complaints as the pistol is mostly a in spec 1911 --the only thing being the trigger has a smaller bow than a regular 1911 has --but if you have done the 1911 thing for a while your going to be pretty comfortable working with the PT1911.

and all i have spent was $30 for the grips , the rest came from my spares box and this is one sweet shooter now-- now it shoots like a expensive 1911 with a big name , trigger smooth as sild and the thing cycles perfectly--the taurus barrel seems ver accurate and hits to POI and is dead on with the sights. -- and i barely got a bit over 4 bills in it. in spite of a few issues i can't complain!!

The PT1911fs, at the time I ordered it, was way too good a price to pass up. Even at it's regular discounted price, I feel it's an excellent gun. To my surprise, it came with a nice hard plastic case. I was expecting a cardboard box. It came with only one magazine, as was described in the specs. I believe the only things that separate the fs from the more expensive PT1911's is that it comes with one mag instead of two, and the finish is bare bones. The finish is matte, and doesn't look bad on this style of gun, but there were a few scuffs on mine, some of them conspicuous. Nothing major, didn't bother me, but I could see that some people buying the gun at a higher price ($500 ) might be a little disappointed. On the other hand, the scuffs may be why the price was cheap, which is fine with me.

It has worked flawlessly for the first 50 rounds. Very smooth, and as accurate as I allowed it to be. I can see why the 1911 format is so popular. I expect that it will be a nice gun to shoot over the years. The Taurus magazine worked great, but the Chip McCormack mag that I bought as a second mag didn't work at all. Wouldn't even load the first round. Interesting, because I've only heard good things about those mags and they're supposed to work well in Taurus 1911's. Maybe it just needs adjustment. If not, I'll order another Taurus mag. So the gun is great and I would recommend it very much, based on my experiences.
