This is my second order from Bud's and was very happy with the service I received from them. This gun is exactly like my other Savages except this one was for my son. We fired it for the first time this weekend as it was ordered early for his birthday. He fired the first shot at nothing in particular as it was his gun and I believe the owner should always fire the first shot with his rifle if someone else is going to set the scope for them. Second shot, scope got him right between the eyes. A few tears and hugs from me and Pepa let him know this was a big boy rifle and we set out to set the scope. 3rd shot was perfect on elevation at 100yds but windage was 3" to the right. Quick adjustment and 4th shot was 1/2" off bullseye to the right. Another adjustment and a quick brushing gave the first bullseye of the session with the 5th shot. 6th and 7th clover leafed the 5th. All sots fired were with handloads using 139 gr Hornady SST bullets, Remington brass, CCI primers, and IMR 4064 powder. Another great Savage, but this time it's for my son and not me.

The first deer rifle I bought my son was a 7mm-08 and he loves it. I like the 7mm-08 round and looked for a rifle in this caliber for myself. The Savage 11 Trophey Hunter with a Nikon scope is unmatched for a reliable 7mm-08 rifle and scope combination. This is an excellent rifle and I am delighted I made this purchase from Bud's. This rifle took only a minimal amount of shots to zero (10 or 12). I am a very satisfied Savage owner. I believe I will take it hunting before pulling my Howa 30-06 out of the gun cabinet because the Savage is light weight and the recoil is light and it will get the job done if I do my job with bullet placement. But...it is loud. My wife was in the house when I was zeroing my rifle outside in my rural backyard. She thought I was shooting my 50 cal blackpowder rifle. Ha Ha.
