Building on a heritage of accurate, affordable firearms from a trusted American brand, the T/C Compass is a great choice for serious hunters on a budget. A feature-rich hunting rifle that is easy on the wallet, the Compass has a free-float barrel with 5R rifling and a threaded muzzle. The aluminum pillar bedding system positively locates the receiver for outstanding accuracy, and the bolt is electroless nickel-plated with Teflon for smoothness. It features a three-lug bolt design with a 60 degree lift for good scope clearance and a smooth, easy cycling action. The single-stage, adjustable trigger offers a crisp release for precision shooting, and the 3-position safety (with bolt lock) provides positive tactile feel, clear visibility and easy access. It has an ergonomic, lightweight stock for a classic look with modern contours, textured grip panels, and a soft rubber recoil pad. It uses a detachable, flush fit rotary magazine. What a NICE rifle, .308 WIN, length, weight, function wonderful. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Bagged my first buck with it this year, used 150 gr vs 180 gr shell as I forgot them. I use to use a 8 mm, kicked like a mule, this one is 1/2 the kick. VERY NICE light weight rifle, not one problem with the FIT and FINNISH. Again another nice purchase from BUDS, FAST shipping, NO PROBLEMS.

Very good rifle. Great barrel and trigger. I get the best accuracy from lighter 165gr Hornady rounds. I tried with 175 and 186 gr but the groups were over 1.5 inch at 100 yrds. 165gr Hornady sit at .8inch. Light stock which actually helps when you throw a high magnification scope on it. Good features, I will buy another in the future in a different Caliber. I haven't made up my mind yet.

My father owned an 1889 Mauser in 8mm. This was the first rifle that I ever fired. It was chambered in some version of 8mm (I'm told there were several). Ever since I fired my father's Mauser, I have been in search of a firearm of similar quality that didn't break the bank. The closest I have come to 1900's German engineering is the Thompson Center Compass. The stock leaves something to be desired, but the trigger, bolt, and accuracy are almost more than can be expected for the price. This rifle is more than twice the quality of my Remington 700 special-purpose synthetic. The efficacy of the 308 Winchester round speaks for itself, or it wouldn't still be a popular and commonly available round. Don't mistake this rifle for a $2,000 custom. This is a factory rifle, but it is the most rifle that you will get for the money in its price range. 10/10 highly recommended

The rifle I received was a warranty return, but it functions perfect. It is accurate, cycles well and has neat features, like 3 position safety, large lug handle, threaded end, etc. I also have this model in .223/5/56. It performs equally well. I am tempted to get another one too, if I can slide it by the wife.
