If you live in New York as I do, this is an outstanding firearm to own. I received it this morning and as "patient" as I am, I have already function checked it and ran 100 rounds through it. No jams, cycles perfectly. As long as you are not 3-gun competing or trying to hit a running mouse at 400m, this is pretty accurate. It is durable and as easy to disassemble and clean as any long gun. This is perfect for the homestead or whatever you chose it for. I can not be more pleased with the improvements that Ruger did compared to the older models.

Great rifle, light weight, solid and built off the legendary M1 Garand action style! Bud's has the best price bar none. This was my first purchase through Bud's and I was extremely satisfied. Shipping was fast and Bud's informed me every step of the way. The process was so smooth I became a Bud's Team Member and all my future gun purchases will be through them. Thank You!!

Received this rifle from Buds the first week of December 2012. Was not going to review it but then I encountered a problem with the rifle. After firing several hundred rounds through it, some being steel cased ammo, the extractor broke. I called Ruger and they told me that they do not recommend firing steel case ammo because the coating on the ammo can stick to the inside of the breach and gunk it up causing the fired shells to stay stuck in the breach and end up breaking the extractor. This is what happened to my rifle. Ruger did get me a new extractor, spring, and plunger within a week at no charge which I installed myself(ps I'm not mechanically inclined, so anyone can do it). There is also a video on the internet that shows how to replace the extractor. After installing the parts from Ruger and thoroughly cleaning the rifle, especially inside the breach, it is working great once again. All in all I love this rifle. Actually prefer it ergonomically to an AR. Also contrary to some popular opinions and internet chatter I found the rifle to be very accurate. Have ordered a couple of spare OEM, ie Ruger, extractors, springs, and plungers from Brownells just in case. They are not expensive at all. All 3 pieces are less than $20. This rifle would get 5 stars except for the broken extractor and the fact that Ruger does not recommend using steel case ammo. Still I highly recommend it. It's very fun to shoot.
