Since its introduction in 1993, the Ruger Vaquero® has dominated the cowboy action shooting world and earned its reputation for rugged reliability due to its strength and mechanical superiority. It is often referred to as "the gun that won the New West" because of its widespread popularity among single-action shooters and cowboy action competitors.

The Ruger Vaquero combines the original Old West single-action look and feel with new features. The mid-size steel frame and cylinder are scaled-down to the same size as the original 1955 Ruger Blackhawk®, closely resembling the classic single-action revolvers of the late 1800's.

Very smooth action. Perfectly polished. Very light trigger, minimal pre or over travel-like any quality SAA type gun. Small amount of trigger creep-like any new Ruger revolver I have used. S&W has always been better revolver in that regard. Not a deal breaker, but true. I can confirm that the Ruger revolver trigger creep is reduced to the point that you don’t notice after a good bit of use. Good point of aim (no small consideration with a fixed sight firearm) I’d prefer walnut grips over the rosewood looking laminate, but aesthetics are a personal complaint-not a problem. The grips frame is excellent for my small hands; a person with exceptionally large paws might want to handle one before purchasing.

My first purchase from Buds and very impressed with the entire process from ordering to shipment. After my experience buying the Ruger Vaquero from Buds and reading all the reviews I am confident that Bud’s Guns is safe, secure and reliable. Doubt that I would ever use another shop for a firearm purchase. Also, Prices are great and an amazing inventory. Enough said. On the Vaquero- I purchased this revolver because of the excellent reviews and love the stainless finish and workmanship. This is my first “Cowboy” single action revolver and look forward to shooting it. I am surprised that it sells for under $800.00. I think it is equal in quality to my Colt Python which cost almost twice as much. Very happy with this purchase from Buds.

What can be said? Ruger makes an awesome Single action shooter for Cowboy action. They shoot great, feel nice in hand and look amazing. I have 2, one in 45acp and this one in 357 and I love them both. Fit and finish is excellent and they are super solid firearms. This gun is smooth, accurate and a blast to shoot.
