Awesome carry gun. So light you forget it's there. Quality product.

Great carry gun for someone looking for something light but powerful. very easy to conceal in a coat pocket with a pocket holster for a quick run out to the store. also a nice backup gun to carry in an ankle holster. it is unbelievable how light this gun is (11.8oz) which is nice for carrying but you pay a price when you shoot 357 out of it. The recoil is stout but manageable for experienced shooters. If you can handle the recoil and price tag it is a great gun for concealed carry

This is my new carry revolver. Shoots 38 Special easy and 357 mag can be a bit painful. Just takes some practice to get used to it. Extremely light weight. I have had no issues with this revolver after shooting 100+ rounds through it. A little pricey, but it is worth it.

The S&W M340PD appears just as presented on Bud's website...a real beauty! I had my older 342 stolen recently, and wanted to replace it. I have a bit of work to do prior to testing. I'm putting in a trigger kit, honing the interior parts that need it and removing the interior hammer lock. When done, I expect it to be equal to my 342, with the added benefit of .357MAG, plus it will have laser grips.
I recommend Bud's...awesome service and fast delivery!

First things first, This is a niche weapon. If you don't know why you want this revolver then buy something else.
This weapon fits the bill for EDC PDW better than anything else I've found.
This was engineered by S&W to be a featherweight .357 magnum. With that said, if you plan on only shooting .38 Special, buy something else.
Because it is so light (11.8 OZ unloaded) you could imagine that it has stiff recoil. That is an understatement. When shooting hot .357 magnum loads, it is unpleasant to shoot. I don't know what else to compare it too because you won't find something this powerful that is also this light.
Pros: Absolute dream to carry. Light weight and doesn't print as much as a a pistol.
Cons: Barrel is flippy due to the power. Recoil as mentioned above is impressive. Stiff recoil can work screws loose-use a thread-lock on ejector rod and thumb piece. Perhaps the biggest con is the fact that S&W insists that bullet weight must no lighter than 120gr.
Full disclosure: I also replaced the springs (mainspring & rebound) to improve the double action only trigger.
Best advice I could give comes in two parts:
#1 Replace the factory grips with something more ergonomic (I chose Delta Grips).
#2 Shoot .38 special on the first trip to the range. Work on your presentation and trigger control until you have developed your confidence. Think of it as a first date.
Once you better understand the type of relationship you are in, then it is appropriate to put in the .357 Mags.
The good news is this is something that will be easy to clean because you are never going to put a lot of rounds through it at the range. 15-20 and you are good. Just to get past the recoil flinch.
The sharp recoil impulse is best managed by good grips, a good grip and a good stance. It is certainly unpleasant but manageable. With all the negatives, this is my go-to EDC weapon. I have known several friends that bought one, shot it and promptly sold it. I would not part with mine. Very well made and well engineered. It had to be to handle magnum loads. Because of that, it will cost you more. but in my book it is worth it.
Accuracy is acceptable for the short barrel length. You aren't going to be taking head shots at 50M with this. That being said; inside of 7 meters it is a different story, what you don't center punch you will set on fire. The flame exiting the barrel is impressive at indoor ranges. My friends refer to this as the noisy cricket. This revolver garners more astonished looks at the range than any other handgun I own. Remember EDC PDW.

Exactly what I was looking for! This ultra light revolver is everything I was looking for in a backup pistol. It is light and easily concealed as a backup. The shrouded hammer ensures the gun always goes bang even while in a jacket pocket. The .357 rating gives a broad selection of ammo choices. Bud's offered the best pricing new I could find.

What a great little snubbie! So light, feels like a toy... in a good way. .38, .38+p great! .357 is a bit harsh, but not intangible. Plan on carrying +p always, powerful and accurate for a short barrel. Sights, amazing, took a bit to get used to, shot a bit high, but once you're on it, you're on it. The day glo front sight is marks above the ramp style. Barely prints at all in the waistband. Worth almost double over the Airweight... up to you, but daily carry, should be a dream.

Amazing little guy! No more a chore to carry my CCW!! ITS A PLEASURE TO CARRY! I am by FAR the pickiest users of carry arms, having owned 4 previous sidearms including the Kahr PM's, this was by far, hands down the best for everyday carry! Especially with the clipdraw addition!! Lot of hype about the recoil, granted there is quite abit of recoil there, but I have had no pain with it, just pack .38 if there is an issue! Love it love

This is one awesome firearm but not for the faint of heart! 11.4 oz on my scale at home amazed me as most guns are heavier than listed. With a cylinder full of ammunition it is still lighter than the airweights. When you buy a pocket/ankle gun you buy for 1 reason, light weight and this thing is as light as a real caliber gets. Sure, it hurts to shoot but if you need it, you'll have it because you can actually carry it no matter what the dress for the day is. At about 14 oz loaded it IS a carry piece.
