I had written in an in-process review that I did not agree with Bud's policy of taking a customer's money when he/she used the ACH or electronic check version of payment and then waited at least five days to ship the product. Having said this, the rest of the process and transaction went flawlessly. Customer service was great, the product did ship on the 5th day and arrived at my FFL via FedEx with no problems. I got communications via email as to status throughout the process. So a very nice job by Bud's. The pistol is very, very nice. Shooting 180 grain 44 Specials throughout is like you are shooting nothing - no recoil due to the size of the frame and pistol. Now 240 grain 44 Magnum rounds are a different story. I had to switch to the Hogue grip (included) to be able to handle these very powerful rounds. But this is a beautiful modern upgrade to the classic Dirty Harry 44 Magnum revolver. So I am a very happy camper and thanks to Bud's once again.

What can I say - this is a Performance Center firearm. Trigger is smooth, wood stocks are too gorgeous to carry around on the gun (this gun will be used in bear country). It's an absolute pleasure to shoot as .44 Mag goes. This gun will be around for a long time to come.

I have had this item for almost a year now. I have shot around 400-500 rounds of 44 magnum through this firearm and I am very impressed. The fit and finish is wonderful. The two different grip types that come with the firearm are great. I shot about 100 rounds with the wood grips. While they do not soften the recoil at all, my issue was just getting a good grip on the firearm. When I switched over to the rubber Hogue grips, the pistol not only was a pleasure to shoot (Yes, I did say pleasure with a 44 mag), it was easier to maintain a great shooting grip for accurate shots. I can ring steel with this gun at 100 yards (12" diameter gongs) with my red-dot sight mounted on the supplied rail. The iron sights are somewhat a combat/target hold; which isn't my favorite sight picture type, but it was still relatively accurate out to 50 yards (I didn't go further). A good red-dot sight on this pistol will help you reach out and get 3-6 MOA accuracy with this pistol - especially with quality reloads (HP Hornady Bullets). I would recommend this pistol to anyone looking for a great 44 magnum. The price is hefty on a performance center product, but being my 2nd performance center firearm, I actually think it is worth the expense.

Smith & Wesson have a winner! Action is smooth and cylinder locks up tight. A great looking revolver that shoots as well as it looks. Bud's was great to work with and answered all of my questions. Received the revolver 3 days after order. Very pleased with the M629 and Bud's.

Wonderful firearm. Great combination of beauty and power. I was concerned with the smooth wood grips but that was settled on my first trip to the range and 50 flawless rounds. The engineers and craftsmen at Smith & Wesson came up with a real winner.

The gun is beautiful but honestly it doesn't match the hype given to it by Smith & Wesson nor justify the one grand price. The matte finish is DULL and this gun should be in a bright high polish or nickel in my opinion. The grip feels small making the gun feel out of balance. I was surprised however to receive an extra set of black rubber grips. It came in a cheap plastic case but that's better than a cardboard box. Overall I would not have purchased this gun if I had seen it in a gun shop.
