I learned to shoot on a Belgium-made, scoped version of this rifle as a young kid in South Texas. My grandfather would take me to his ranch to plink and to hunt rabbit. As an adult, I wanted one and always thought I would inherit his. However, his home was broken into and his Browning 22 Auto Grade 1 was stolen, along with several other firearms. I never got over it and became focused on purchasing one of my own. Thanks to Bud's Gun Shop's pricing and availability, I bought one in 2017. Mine is a Japanese-made version of the same rife. It's a fine firearm and it brought back all of the old, truly outstanding memories I have of learning to shoot with a well-made rifle. The rifle was sighted perfectly out of the box and was very easy to (re-)learn. I shoot it with iron/open sights and enjoy the accuracy of the rifle. The rifle is a "take-down" version...I can't say for sure, but I thought all of the SA-22s were take-down capable; however, I read something recently that described the version being advertised as a "take-down version". It breaks down very easily and packs nicely into the small hard case I have for it. It has fired several different brands of ammo and has never failed to fire or otherwise jammed. I am very impressed with John Browning's idea of bottom-discharge of the spent shell casings, which translates to no projectiles interfering with your next shot, no hot brass landing in your cap, collar or sleeve, nothing to take away from the shooting experience. I toy with the idea of adding a scope, but I like the look of the rifle without one...so until I feel differently, I will likely keep it in its iron-sight configuration. I also appreciate the ability to tighten or "snug-up" the fit between the barrel and the receiver via the adjusting ring without(!) tools. I especially like the rear/side method of loading the magazine. It's interesting, quick, and very easy. I've heard people comment about the cost of this and other Browning rifles, claiming they're "too expensive". Honestly, I used to think the same way, but after purchasing mine, I can tell you that this is a quality firearm and worth the cost. Like anything else, it's worth planning and budgeting for. If you're in the market for a plinker, or are if you want to teach a young person how to shoot, or hunt small game, as I did as a youngster, this is a fantastic rifle to do it with. It's lightweight, uncomplicated, easy to take-down, easy to assemble, easy to clean, and most importantly, it shoots like a dream. Don't let anyone tell you the Japanese-made models are in anyway inferior to the older Belgian made versions...they're not. This is a quality firearm and I would purchase the Browning 22 Auto Grade 1 again...and again. This rifle is beautiful in appearance. It's slim, sleek design, and "old-school" looks make it very attractive and desirable. I am very happy with, and proud to own this Browning firearm. I was very pleased with my purchase from Bud's Gun Shop. The rifle was priced right, it arrived as described, and in perfect condition. Bud's earned my confidence as a customer. Happy hunting!

Just had to have this. Though it's from Japan, it looks just like my dad's Belgium that was handed down to me after his passing years ago. It's a great little squirrel gun and just really fun to shoot. Each time I shoot it, though some of the casings might fall down into my shirt sleeve I just smile. For years that's what my dad's Belgium did to him. Set them side to side and you wouldn't know the difference. Mounted a Leupold 2-7 on it to match the Belgium. Shoots great!
