My 700 SPS Varmint 308 has been great so far. I'm still shooting regular ammo thru it to break it in. Then I'm going to try Federal's 168gr and 175gr match grade ammo and go from there.

I have had my rifle for over a year now and have had a chance to put it through its paces at the range. Rifle has almost 600 rds through it and I've only had 2 rds that would not let the bolt lock and they were both factory loads. I changed out the factory stock for a b&c light tactical stock and add a Harris bipod, swfa ss 12x42 scope, their 30 mm rings and a weaver tactical base. Recently added a Witt machine muzzle brake and a kinetic research group bolt lift kit. Went to the range 3 weeks ago and using hsm 168gr smk and right to bear ammo 168gr a-max I was able to get both to shoot .330 and .306 groups at 100 yards with wind gusts of 8-12 mph and .890 and .910 at 200 yards with wind gusts of 15-18 mph. This past weekend I was able to shoot roughly the same groupings as before but just slightly bigger. I also took some hand loads with me and using fgmm brass, cci primers, reloader 15 powder and 168gr smk I was shooting .980-1.023 groups at 200 yards with loads using 43.5 grains of powder. The other loads were charged under this and groups weren't as tight. All and all this is a great rifle.for anyone looking for a budget build as you cant do wrong with the rem 700 action and varmint barrel. I plan on going to the range next week with a few more loads to see if I can get this rifle at/under 1/2" moa at 200 yards.
