First let me start by saying if you’re looking for a pistol that is very well put together, look no further than the Steyr M40-A1! I’ve owned Glock, S&W, FNH, and a few other brands of pistol. The Steyr M40 is by far, in my humbled opinion, the best shooter out of anything I’ve owned. I personally prefer the .40 S&W, and this pistol was actually made to handle the snappiness of that round. The pistol takes care of itself as far as getting back on target quickly after the shot is fired. The grip for some might feel a little unusual, thats because it is angled back slightly further than other pistols. That is what makes the difference on being able to handle the 40 better than most other pistols. The M40 is roughly the same size as your G19 for those more familiar with the Glock family. As far as the functionality of the pistol goes, I’ve had a few failure to ejects right off the bat. I have put 400 rds through the pistol and the more rounds I’ve put through, the better the pistol has preformed. The pistol much like most has about a 400-500 round break in period. After about 300-350 rounds, I haven’t had anymore failures! Customer service with Steyr is amazing, my pistol was missing a few items when I received it from Bud’s. Steyr sent the items to me free of cost. So to recap, the Steyr M40-A1 is a great pistol to own. It is actually built based on the recoil of the 40 S&W unlike most other pistols. It is very easy to disassemble and reassemble. I recommend this pistol to anyone looking for something new that is extremely reliable and cost effective! You will not find the quality and long term reliability in any other pistol under $500.

I've had this gun for just over two years. The first time I took it to the range, I put 250 rounds through without a problem. It has continued to be flawless. It's comfortable to shoot and I find the proprietary sights easy to acquire. The only downside is accessories are more difficult to find than for other more well-known handguns, but I don't mind that.

I have quite the selection of handguns/rifles and the Steyr is a refreshing change for what has become simply "the norm" nowadays. I have several Glocks as well and the Steyr definitely outperforms the Glock 22 in particular. Awesome gun and Bud's was there and ready to answer any and all questions you may have. The Steyr was amazing from top to bottom, HIGHLY recommended if you are looking for a high quality change of pace! Enjoy!!

Picked up my Steyr M40-A1 today from my FFL Dealer. Thank you Buds. This is my 4th Seyr hand gun. Never had any issues with my S9-A1 ( my concealed weapon ), or my C9-A1. The Steyr M40-A1 is a great hand gun and after taking it out to the range today it too has minimum recoil. Shipment from Buds was fast a usual. I recommend anyone looking for a great Glock alternative, check out the Stery hand guns.

Incredible pistol! After reading the online comparisons between this weapon and Glock, I'd go with Steyr everyday and twice on Sunday. Fit, finish, and mechanics are all first-rate. Natural point of aim. Ergonomics are that of a Walter PPQ. Dead-on accurate out of the box. Fired 300 rounds - no FTE, no FTF. Buds shipping took 11 days? (still not sure about that one), but cannot beat their prices!! For the price point and performance, you cannot beat the Steyr M-A1 series pistols.

Second Steyr I have bought, Buds was great and I am a Steyr believer now! My M9-A1 has over 1000 rounds of everything you could put through it and despite a few dud rounds and occasional limp wrising it has been fantastic! I have 700 rounds through the M40-A1 and it has ran flawlessly with various brands and types of ammo. I absolutely love the sights, I have owned and shot more hand guns than I can count from cap and ball to 1911's numerous glock offerings, xd's, three baby eagles, revolvers and everything in between and my Steyr's are by far the best I've ever owned. I will buy Steyr as long as they are available. Buy one, give it a chance, it's not a glock.....it's better!

This is a great gun. The fit and feel is fantastic. The sights take a little to get use to, but I am convinced they are superior to the standard dot sights. It shoots well. I've only put a couple hundred rounds of Federal FMJ's thru it, but so far no FTE's or any other issues. It's a pretty good value. I'll probably buy the 9mm next month.
