I bought one of these for my wife. I bought and installed a rosewood FluerdeLe (sp?) grip and wrapped it as a gift in it's nice glass top engraved presentation box and it floored her almost as well as the 18kt gold bracelet from Tiffany. (Well, almost almost...sorta' almost...). Anyway it's the nicest little 642 they've got. Steel is high polish blued and the alloy frame is pretty too. The engraving is tastefully done and the message is clear. It's HER gun like no other in the house and it's her choice of carry pistol everywhere she goes. Smooth, accurate, and reliable. A first rate revolver and a big hit as a gift. The fake ivory is junk - you won't want to leave them on such a classy piece as this is.
