 This is a Mossberg 590 Mariner, a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun designed for use in harsh climates.  It features a 20-inch cylinder bore bead barrel chambered for 3-inch shells, synthetic furniture, and a capacity of 8+1. The barrel and receiver are finished in Marinecote, a baked on finish similar to parkerizing but more resistant to salt.

Excellent shotgun. Arrived fast and in perfect condition from Buds. Fired 200 rounds of federal flight control 00buck at the range and now this shotgun action is perfect. Highly recommend, thanks!

Please give this gun a chance. The coating on the barrel and receiver is meant for corrosion resistance. It may not be as “smooth” as you would like out of the box. Get your butt out there and shoot a couple hundred rounds and the action smooths up considerably. This shotgun will last a lifetime. Quality made in the USA.

After ton of reading and studying of the Mossberg Mariner and Remington Marine Magnum I got chance to shoot both. I prefer the Mossberg on 2 basis first was controls which allow different fingers to operate different things so can keep trigger to get off or on the trigger without employing to do other chores. Second reason was the capacity holding 8+1 was the seller.
I did not purchase this gun for home defence it is for muggy humid south Texas weather spending too much time outdoors waiting for coyote.
Happy with the purchase and happy with process as well first gun I bought on line and Buds was great.

Mossberg 590 Mariner Model: 50299 . It shipped with the wrong manual. The manual was for a Patriot Bolt Action centerfire rifle. And the capacity is not 9 1, as advertised. It is 8 1. I have a picture showing 8 shells next to the magazine. There has to be room for the coil and spring.

Great, durable home defense shotgun. By all accounts I have read with civilians and law enforcement the Mossberg marinecote finish holds up well over the years even in harsh environments. The marinecote finish is designed to resist corrosion from salt spray and hot humid environments. If you need a shotgun for defense and you live in Florida or own a boat, this is your gun. My Mossberg Marinecote shoots great. Smooth action. The Mossberg has double shell extractors. When you rack the action it flings the spent hulls well clear of the receiver. I can't say enough good about the 500/590 series. If my life or the lives of my loved ones is on the line, I would not hesitate to reach for The Mossberg Marinecote 590.

I am really happy with this purchase. I spent a lot of time researching and was hoping that this would be my most versatile weapon for sport shooting, hunting and home defense. The quality of the 590 is A++. I spent 500+ shells today (various rounds). I had zero jams and .. A LOT of fun. I placed my order online on Thursday and picked it up at Bud's here in Lexington on Tuesday. I can't say enough for the service and professionalism of these guys. Thanks.
