Great bang for the buck. These are hard to find these days. A joy to shoot. It really does well with a 357 and is accurate enough to hunt small to midsize game with at 50 yards. I loaded some hot Viht 105 loads for it. Hits hards with decent group. Do not expect sub moa. This is a utility rifle---and a nice one.

The rifle I bought will cloverleaf wadcutters at 25 yards with ease. I added a scope, lead weight to the buttstock and a sling. It is a great beater rifle. If you can find one, it is a great purchase.

I received this gun at Shooters World of Peoria on 9/10/14. I took it home and installed a red dot sight on it. On 9/11/14 I took it to the range to sight it in and shot several .38 and .357 rounds thru it. The gun is a real tack driver. It's very accurate. A lot of fun to shoot. The only negative is that the bull barrel makes it a bit heavy, but I doubt that would be a problem for most folks. I intend to get a shotgun barrel for it soon as H&R offers a number of interchangeable barrels for this gun. It's a single shot so if your going to hunt with it, make the shot count. If you want a versatile single shot rifle you would probably enjoy this gun very much.

After a week of ownership I finally got to shoot this compact, little rifle. I shot both 357 & 38 specials. The results were very pleasing....very accurate little gun. I'm also very pleased with the build & overall appearance. Nice gun, great price. As usual, Bud's is an A+ gun shop.

This is my first entry into single shot break action rifles, but not my first H&R. Simply put, these guys make an awesome product, and I am super confident with the purchase I made. A couple of points I wanted to add into this review: #1 Buds - Awesome to deal with, and handle my transactions. Turn around was about 1 week from the time I purchased it to the time the 4473 was filled out and I was going home with it. UNBELIEVABLE! #2 Price was awesome, but more important, please spend the money for the shipping insurance. You may NEVER need it until you get the one package you should have. It will save you a headache. I am saying this not as someone who had an issue with shipping, because I didn't. Better to be safe.... #3 I didn't know I could also buy the .44mag, 12GA, or 20GA barrels for less than buying a completely new model. This has the SB1 frame, and because of that is interchangable with the barrels I mentioned. Shotgun is about $60, .44mag $110. Go to H&R and see for yourself. #4 If you buy any other rifle caliber like .223, .30-06, .308 those barrels fit the SB2 frame and will not fit this one, so be mindful of that. I have not had a chance to put range time on it, I need to secure a scope for it (no iron sights), and it's just pansy cold out for me. The FFL I transferred this with didn't want me to take it home because it's the first one he saw (wanted to look at it before I was able too, I was filling out the 4473 at the time) and was super excited to handle it. Awww the love between a man and his new gun.... Any way, I will love using this for deer hunting, plinking, and teaching my daughter to shoot. Thank you Buds!

Great CLOSE RANGE intro whitetail rifle for my 6 years old son...Had to change the stock to fit him better because he's so small, but he handles it okay...My buddy has short barrel version and the reduces weight really improves the youth hunter's ability to handle the rifle; he also had to change the stock though to fit his 8 year old. Recoil is almost zero and highly accurate. Great value. With the right ammo, you can stretch affective range to about 100 yards, but those are not factory pistol loads.

i bought this rifle, didnt expect a whole lot from a 357 mag fifle. I have to tell you though its a great shooting rifle!! i circle a quarter at 75 yards with a magic marker and i am able to put them inside the circle on a regular basis. You wont be dissapointment with this rifle. B,R.
