Ordered this gun after getting a savage .17 HMR about a year earlier hoping it would shoot as accurate. I couldn't more pleased with the 223 I got from Bud's. After mounting a good scope, I sighted it in at 50 yards and was really happy to see a very tight consistent group. After a few rounds it was spot on and incredibly consistent. The action on the gun is very smooth. I had worries about the 25 series after reading some comments so opted for the 12 series. It's amazing how smooth it is. Incredibly solid and well built. The accutrigger is a very feature of this gun also. Cleaning afterwords was quick and easy. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get a good 223.

All I can say is WOW! One of the best bolt action rifles I have ever fired. I placed a Leuopold Vx1 3x9 x40. I had a good gunsmith bore sight it, but as I was breaking in the barrel in the first 30 shots it took me three to get it centered and the next 27 were inside a dime from 100 yards. Not sure I will stray from Savage in this department again. Can't wait to get a Savage 308. Best rifle on market. A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A real tack driver. It's shooting 1/2 MOA at 100 yards all day.

Great transaction, first gun purchase and it took about a week to get in. This is my second Savage (had a 112BVSS in 22-250 pre-Accutrigger) and I love it. This new one is even better. The workmanship is top notch in my opinion, the barrel is beautiful with the fluting (and free floated), and the thumb hole stock is extremely comfortable. I shoot this off a bench and will be used for Montana prairie dogs. Although I'm still searching for the best load, I've managed 0.75" groups at 100 yards using 24.4 grains of Varget with Remington 7 1/2 primers and 69 gr Sierra HPBTMK with a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x SF BDC. These groupings are fairly consistent but I think it will do better. I really love the crispness of the trigger (don't know what the factory setting is but I like it well enough to not adjust it), the lack of creep and the safety of the accutrigger. I have not shot any factory ammo so I have nothing to add there. Overall, I think the price is higher than I would have liked to have paid but if I had to do it over again, I would not change anything. My other option competing against this rifle was the Remington 700 VLSS Thumbhole which is about the same price but I liked the free-floated fluted barrel of the Savage and the Accutrigger. Those two things were the biggest deciding factors although I prefer the lighter grain wood used in the Remington.
