Nice looking gun -- both the SS metal and the stock. But since I wanted 10-round capacity, I swapped the stock out for tactical/precision model to accommodate a 10-round magazine. Smooth bolt operation and good trigger. Excellent accuracy (sub moa with quality heavy bullet weight ammo). Just realize with 1-7 twist you are not getting a tack driver with standard 55 grain ammo.

This rifle is a tack driver. I liked it so much I bought 1 in .308 also.

I have had this rifle for a couple months now and I couldn't be more satisfied with it. It's a quality build, very solid and well put together with exceptional fit and finish. I picked this up with the 7 twist specifically to shoot heavy for caliber bullets and have had good success with Berger. Doing some seat depth testing loads yielded several groups between .60 - .40 MOA @100 yards, with a personal best ever of .18 MOA in one string of 5. Ran some 60 VMAX loads I already had for a gas gun and those averaged .62 MOA as well. It handles the big Bergers quite well and I firmly believe this rifle is capable of .50 MOA or better consistently. Very impressed with a factory rifle under $1000 that shoots this good.

This is a very accurate rifle. I purchased this gun for long distance recreational shooting. On the third trip out, I was shooting 5 shot groups averaging .35 MOA at 100 yards with a best group of .25 MOA shooting Sierra Match King 77 grain bullets. So the potential for a very accurate long distance shooter is there. The price and service at Bud's is always great. On the down side, initial quality of the gun as delivered was lacking. The forward action screw was not installed in the rifle. It was sitting in the plastic bag with the documentation. I removed the stock from the action, adjusted the trigger and put it all back together. The gun is straight and true and shoots very well. I consider this as not normal for Savage and would buy this gun again.
