  No Keven. You should start out with a 357Magnum handgun which will always allow you to shoot both 357 and 38. A 38 cannot be safely modified to shoot 357Magnum rounds.

• Q: I bought this for my wife's personal defense. Will it shoot the hornady personal defense loads?

  This pistol will fire the Hornady critical Defense 38 spcl just fine. i recommend going with the standard load rather than the +P for reduced muzzle blast out of the short barrel and better penetration as well. light, high velocity, expanding bullets tend to penetrate less as evidenced by the less than 12" average penetration tested here (https://www.gunnuts.net/2013/09/24/hornady-critical-defense-38-special-p-review/)
