  Terry, Both great firearms. My personal opinion is model 5802 with the Stainless Steel. Even though it come with 4 round magazine. Ruger makes a great 25 round magazine that you would probably add to either model. The bluing is sure pretty on model 5816 and comes with 20 round magazine.

  Tom, no Sir. This Mini 14 model has an 18.5" Cold Hammer Forged non threaded Barrel. (You would need to get a threaded model or get a threaded barrel).

• Q: What kind of magazine does it take? Magpul standard 223 or proprietary?

  The Ruger factory magazines run best in this rifle but I found Tapco worked well also. It hooks in the front and rotates in like the original M-14 mags.
