I purchased this gun so my 14-year old Godson and I could shoot targets and go duck and goose hunting. My primary reason for picking the SA08 was because of the changeable gas rings. We tested the gun out with three different 2-3/4 rounds. The first box was a heavier hunting load and the other two boxes were light target rounds. All I did was cleaned off the factory grease and wipe the gun down when I took it out of the box. It ate every cartridge we put in the gun like candy. Both of us hit every clay we threw. Very easy to get on target. I am even looking for some lighter loads to try out next time. We have several heavy hunting guns and none of them can shoot light loads. I am very impressed with using the SA08 for a skeet and trap gun. When the temperature drops we will change to the heavy gas ring and find some live targets.
Out of the box the gun looks pretty good. There are some bluing issues on the receiver. The finish is not perfect but all of the operating parts look and feel good. We hope to put some hard miles on the gun so it will get a little scratched up over the next few years.

Love this shotgun! I've always had pump action shotguns growing up but this is my new go to. This thing is smooth. No issues shooting 2 3/4" during dove season or 3" yote mags on coyotes.

Great shotgun! Very light, good balance, points naturally. Took it out for a round of sporting clays and shot within 3 of my usual score that I post with guns I have a few thousand rounds through. Felt good and functioned flawlessly. Even cycled loads lighter than those recommended by Weatherby without any issue. 4.5 lbs. Trigger pull out of the box. Good fit and finish to all parts. Forearm joins to receiver solidly, no wiggle. Cleans up easy. Best budget gun on the market IMHO.

This gun is fantastic out of the box. Fit and finish is very nice. The light weight is the best thing about this gun. Bathroom scale at 6.6lbs vs. 7.8lbs for the 870 it replaces. It is very maneuverable and makes getting on target a breeze. Recoil is minimal even though the gun is so light. I did not care much for the stock bead sight, so I replaced it with a $15 colored tube sight from a sporting goods store. The stock bead is easy to unscrew and replace, so no big deal and definitely not a knock against the gun. I've also added extended choke tubes. Not a real performance issue, mainly aesthetics. Chokes are easy to find as this gun uses the same threading as the Mossberg 500, Browning Invector, Winchesters, etc. As far as ammo: Don't be concerned about this being a gun that jams unless you spend big $$$ on ammo. I shoot the cheaper Remington target and game loads ($6.xx/box) and so far not a single problem. The manual gives you specific info you need to choose shells that will work perfectly with this gun and its 2 valves (light & heavy loads). I'm sure it will be fine with 3" loads for hunting season. This is one gun where you get way more than you pay for!

This is a great semi auto. I purchased the Weather SA-08 12ga for waterfowl. It has performed flawlessly. The gun has fed everything I have put thru it. I have had no malfunctions or cycling problems. The gun is very lightweight and slim line. I have probably ran 500 rounds thru it so far and am looking forward to this coming up waterfowl season with it. I am very happy with the gun and the transaction with Buds was excellent as always. I would recommend the gun and Buds to anyone.
