My go to hog rifle in woods and brush. Short, easy to maneuver and with a 240 grain round, plenty to bring down the biggest pig. The stainless and synthetic make it a perfect all weather carbine, now wanting one in .357 mag and wishing they made one in .454 Casull. and its a modell 77.

My favorite deer gun. 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. 17 deer killed and furthest was 162 yards using 180 grain xtp at 2100 fps. Very well made and super accurate

I found this Ruger 77/44 to be exceptionally accurate, even with my hand loads. I shot 100 rounds with it on my first range trip using 240 grain jacketed bullets at about 1350 fps and was able to attain an average of less than 2" in several 4 shot groups. The smallest of these was near 1" center to center. The action is smooth and once the gun was fired a few rounds the sticky magazine began to function much better. An extended magazine release may be of assistance with this. The rifle is made well, very good quality, and functions well with rather low velocity ammo thus far. No feed problems noted. Fit and finish seem to be par for Ruger production.

Great rifle for deer hunting in the brush. Rifle came brand new and in perfect condition. Service was excellent. Will buy my next firearm from Buds.

Great rifle, shoots great, accurate, lots of knock down power and is short and light to carry through the woods.

Buds service was superb, as always. I have owned many Ruger firearms, so I purchased this rifle with confidence. This rifle had magazine and accuracy problems. The magazine would always fail to feed the last round in the magazine, with five different bullet types. I also could not get accuracy out of this rifle with any of those five loads(three were with jacketed bullets and slow powders, two were with cast bullets and fast powders). I've always been able to achieve accuracy in other 44 magnum firearms with at least one of those loads, and they usually do well with most of them. I even ordered a trigger spring/bolt shim kit, could never do better than 5" at 100 yds. I have sold this rifle and gone back to my Marlin 1894 and Winchester 1892 in the same caliber. They shoot much better at the same distance with iron sights, than this Ruger did with a scope.

Sweet little deer rifle. Light as a feather with minimal recoil. Accurate from the box with open sights. Trigger is a tad heavy but breaks cleanly. Bolt is smooth with very short throw. Topped it with a Leupold 3 x 9 that I had as an extra. Scope rings fit nicely and appear secure. More follow up when its sighted in. Buds is a pleasure to deal with and best price around.

Shipping was quick. Some minor cosmetic issues with the gun: It was dirty inside. Could be test firing from the factory, but there was visible powder grains in the barrel and soot powder residue around the chamber area, however since the firearm is stainless, corrosion is not a worry, but still I would like to know who fired it and how much. There was scrape about three-eights of an inch long around the outer rim of the barrel tip. Looks like the gun had been leaned up against a concrete wall and slid over. I dressed the entire outer barrel rim with fine emery cloth and fixed it. Lastly, there was a small area in the grip checkering that looked scuffed, however a closer examination revealed that it was plastic shavings from the checkering process that had not quite gotten removed. They were like fine flakes that were still hanging on. A little fine work with a sharp pointed awl and I was able to remove these plastic shavings and now you cannot even tell they were ever there. Gun is well built and very light and easy to handle. Took to the range to first sight in the iron sights. The sights on it are identical to the sights on a 10/22. I worked up three test batches of hand loads: First Batch was 27.5 grains of Hodgdon H110 with Federal Large Pistol Mag Primer and Hornady 200 grain XTP hollow point. The Second Batch was identical, except the primer was Winchester Large Pistol. The 3rd Batch was with 29 grains of Alliant 300-MP, Winchester Large Pistol Primer, and again the Hornady 200 grain XTP. I set up a 2 inch red circle at 25 yards and BAM! The sights were right on right out of the box. This was the case with all 3 of the loads I ran through it. I then picked off random pieces of debris (wood, cans, etc) at the 50 yard bench. Again, the sights were right on without my having to adjust them. This is all the testing I have done, having concluded that the open sights are good enough; next I will mount a scope and am confident that this gun will be capable out to 150-200 yards using a BDC reticle scope. The trigger is tight with absolutely no take up slack. I am used to a little take up slack from 10/22s, however this trigger was easy to get the feel of and did not pull too hard. Good little gun. Few problems as mentioned in the beginning of this review, however I am a stickler for details, but I am also interested in the bottom line, and this firearm is durable, easy to handle, and puts the projectiles where you want it to. I like it! Price at the time of this review is about 25 bucks less than what I paid for it, but that is the nature of firearm pricing in these times.

Buds is Awesome! Ordered this rifle on a tuesday night and it was at the FFL dealer friday morning. Trigger was heavy to start but the more rounds fired and the more I shot it, it seemed to get lighter. The tigger did break clean though. Mounted a Bushnell Banner 2-7x36 scope and using Hornady 240gr XTPs was sighted in with 9 shots and putting 1.5" groups at 100 yards. Can't wait for deer season now! I will be ordering from Buds again also!
